The are doing as well as you would expect in preseason. I like the philosophy the coaches are using... Its not about winning the scrimmage or scoring TD's, its about ironing out the details. We know we can throw the ball well, so a lot of the focus has been on the run. We had some trouble against Shadyside running the ball so they continued to work it out against Columbiana. We ran a little better against them, then against EL the running game finally took stride. Two TD runs against EL of 65 and 70 yards. The Shadyside scrimmage ended in a 0-0 tie, Columbiana tied as well at 1-1 and we beat EL 2-0. The freshman scrimmaged Southern Local's varsity and ended in a 0-0 tie. We had 2 injuries early against Columbiana, two ankles. One appeared to be ok, the other might be a few weeks. The defense has been pretty solid, a good amount of Shadyside's passes were thrown after Creek had a defender at their QB. Adam Young and David Kemp have both looked very good throwing the ball. David has the ability to step right in and make plays if needed. The player I keep my eyes on right now is RB Evan Hopkins. He has been running very well with the ball and playing well on defense also. Next up is Cambridge on Friday night for the preview game... Should be a fun night and I expect the coaches will turn the playbook past page 2 this week since everything is coming together.
The team chemistry is very good this year and you can see the teamwork on the field. Its going to be a fun year
