I was shocked to hear we were 5th, as well. We have not proven to be a great team yet. Hiland definitely got the shaft, but they will be up there by the end of the season... and hopefully in Columbus!

Mr. Russel,
You're probably right about Brandon. Probably a bit of a stretch to even have him on the "others considered" list.

I would put him on the best players list since the three point line!

^^Yes he did, and I considered him....but he never came anywhere close to that in regular season games.

Either he was used wrong or shooting 3's wasn't his role in the offense.

I agree about Brandon....def. one of our best in the last decade at least.

Redrider1- Asking rr80 how Timkin is?????? Clasic post. Still laughing out loud. Never got an answer though.

I would think he would want to watch his kids play college ball. He could learn some things for sure. I am very glad to see the Sly era. Keep it rolling.

Good luck Riders

I'll say one thing...Timken is THE team over in Canton. Went to a Mckinley game the other night....attendance was pathetic. It felt like our game against Minerva there last year....poor turnout & fans full of apathy.

Fieldhouse still rules though....we'll have to win a few games to get on that court this year.

Remember these guys:

Senior High grads still going strong

By CURT CONRAD • News Journal • January 14, 2010

They teamed up for Mansfield Senior's memorable run to the Final Four in 2005 and IUPUI's Jon Avery and Indiana State's Rashad Reed haven't slowed down since.

Quantcast

A senior guard, Reed scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds in a 69-55 win over Evansville on Sunday.

The 2006 Mansfield Senior graduate is averaging 9.1 points and 3.3 rebounds a game for the Sycamores (11-5, 3-2 Missouri Valley Conference). He is second on the team in assists (26) and steals (13).

Avery, a 2005 Senior High product and a senior at IUPUI is averaging 6.2 points and 4.2 rebounds. The Jaguars are 11-7 overall and 6-1 in the Summit League.

I would look for more "box and 1's" the rest of the season.

If I were coaching against us, that is exactly what I would do.

And if you did that to me, I would be pounding it inside. Joey did good, though, but other teams are going to let him do his thing and take their chances.

Watch out for the 1-3-1, too.

Speaking of coaching, whatever possessed you, RR1, to post up that old pic on your web site......again?! What a crack up! BRF, 28 years ago!

Orrville wins by 5 or so. It was a hard fought game and we were behind to start with, but got after it in the second quarter to take a lead that we would not give up. Madison shot well and Cheatham got his points. combination of zone and m-to-m. Foul trouble and Madison getting inside forced us to change it up and go some zone. Didn't shoot foul shots well and Hoobler didn't play which would have helped against a smaller sized team. A W is a W.

Sly said Hoobler got an MRI this past week and they'll find out this week whats up.

Also said Wasson tweaked his knee against Lex....must not be too bad as he had 24 and 11 according to the QKT guys. Jake had 18. Final was 73-68.

Riders trailed 19-10 early in the second but had a 5 pt. lead at half.

Needed this one bad....now Wooster on Friday and @ Senior on Saturday....doesn't get any easier.

Also....Riders are 8-2 in the last 3 years when Wasson scores 20 or more.

Could have gone into him all night if we wanted to make a point of it. I like it that we spread it around more, but there may come a time we have to do that. Zach has gotten stronger this year as compared to last and soon he's going to realize he can impose his will on the game as he feels and the ref's let him.

Sorry I had to miss this game, but sounds like we did a nice job coming back. To me that is huge after losing to Lex, that we kept our heads in the game and worked hard for the win.

I did talk to Chase's mother at the Lex. game and she said they are not sure what's going on with his leg. Chase's feeling is that football is most important, so he is gonna do whatever it takes to make sure he is ready to go this fall. It would be nice to see him on the hardwood, but I understand not taking the risk if he has to choose to return or not.

same injury from the O-G game. He had a shin bruise early on in football season, is all this related?

Agreed, most important for him is football. Do whatcha gotta do.

Then we go to Northwestern that following Tuesday and we have not played well over there in the past. Northwestern is a bit down from past years, but Alberts will have his boys ready to go. They are well coached and always well disciplined making few mistakes. Our speed and pressure should give them some trouble, but lets worry about Wooster first.
Wooster is gonna come at us hard. Its been a while since they have beaten us, I'm sure their seniors will have that in the back of their mind.

Good Luck Red Riders!

Chase needs to take care of himself for what is going to be paying for his college. If he was healthy no doubt would be on the hardwood. I hope he is going to be back, but if not good luck to him next year in football.

Beat Wooster!!
