Why is it that the central district is the only place in the state that teams get to pick what sectional they go to. Because they have the ear of the ohsaa, they have money and get there way. Bitter is right when he says its bull, all it does is favor the schools that are ranked they get to try and avoid other teams that match up against their kids. Its not a chess match its wrestling, you match up agianst your oppenent and go. It makes the central district look poorly to the rest of the state. Many coaches talk about getting rivered when they go to d II dist, thats because it looks they can manipulate the system. Look what happened when new lex and sheridan were at the sectionals in columbus. Did not last very long.

Huh? Wouldn't basketball bring in the same money on Thursday that they do on Wednesday?lion69 wrote: Shank you must be young and an optimist. It is all about the money and who brings it in. Football and Basketball in most schools. In the state it is b-ball and football. Wrestling does well on the State level but not much in some local districts.

my 2 cents:
I like the local polls -- gives me a chance to keep tabs on who is doing well and who is moving wt. classes, without pouring over results when I should be working. My vote/input is relatively limited to the kids I have seen in person, but if all the coaches do so, it is fairly accurate.
As for the Sectional team voting and selection--I like it, since it gives me a tangible 'end-game' goal for the kids to understand why their Team regular season efforts impact their post season chances and those of their teammates.
I suggest that the High and Low vote for each team should be tossed out---perhaps High 2 and Low 2 votes, to reduce the impact of the random vote.
Also- it is difficult and, in my opinion, too early. I completely missed (high and low) on a couple of teams that I could not find results for nor had I seen wrestle. If the vote was one week later, my vote would have been significantly different. Who is better -- Dual or Tourney? I try to balance the two and trust my gut (which is considerable) impression. Some of it is made all the harder since not all coaches submit / report results. So, if I have the choice between Team "Y" that I've seen and is pretty good or "Team X" whom I haven't seen and can't find results for but is also pretty good...I'm going to put Team "Y" ahead most every time.
Lastly--I like the Thursday thing. Gives me time to have wrestle-offs early in the week, a friday to fix kid-specific problems the day before a tourney, and encourages kids to keep their weight down rather than yo-yo.

I don't forsee much movement in the polls since there wasn't that much wrestling last week.
