I really like my PRE(Sprint timed exclusive) more than any pda/smartphone I've had before.... It's still missing some features but it's getting better with every update.

I love the "cards" feature, allowing multiple applications to run at once with ease. Web browsing is so much easier and better experience than my past phones and easier to use than my ipod touch.

WIll add box under each contact to select a ring tone/alert when individual people message you...... http://forums.precentral.net/webos-patches/215183-patch-sms-tones-per-contact.html

READ all patches closely!!!

Yes, very impressive indeed!!! The only bad thing is Palm being a small company after restructuring....
The Pre has alot of horsepower(same chip as The Droid) just development is behind and alot of home-brew work is being done and then Palm takes there code and polishes. Kind of backwards but they can only do so much.

If you haven't been to this website, check it out and register: www.precentral.net That's where I get all my hacks, home-brew, apps.

I just downloaded and have video recording on my phone. It's easy, just need to follow the directions.

No, only thing needs erased are patches...They have an emergency patch remover that you run and it removes them all for you. Very easy.

I always make sure I backup my PRE with gmail for all my cotacts and export to my pc. It's VERY hard to brick a PRE. There are like 4 methods to restore the PRE and not destroy it. It will reset to factory but will be at the latest firmware though.
Mess around with the patches, I haven't had any problems yet....... :)
If you have any questions, ask me or ask on the precentral forums.

Not cheap, just lacking on some of the basic elements but they are fixing that....I think they rushed a good phone out but left features out to grab a bite of the pie before the 3gs & droid dominated.

It's a really good phone though, I use my father-in law 3gs, which is really good but I like browsing the internet and multi-tasking on the Pre.

Good news, I may be able to get my Pre next week from Best Buy for 79.99.

Sprint is offering me a upgrade price a few months early because of my Sprint Premiere rewards (I'm supposed to get an upgrade every March) so Best Buy may be matching the price...

Great stuff if I can do it. If not, I'll get it from Sprint a little bit later (due to having to pay the extra $100 for a mail in rebate)

I'm still debating on the Pre or Hero though... But if the Pre is indeed $79, I can't really pass that up... The Hero would still cost me $179...

one of the good things about best buy and sprint, you dont have to screw with that whole rebate process.

imex,
where do you get your ringtones for the pre? i used to use phonezoo but for some reason when i receive their link, the pre wont recognize it as a ringtone. thx in advance.

It downloaded for me but I think it's b/c I have a Patch installed that allows me to download or stream.

Have you downloaded Preware yet? If not do that.....

If you have download it, open preware and go to patches and find the patch "multi mod" and it will give you the option to stream or download those type of files... Atleast it works for me, I just downloaded a phonezoo ringtone, had it texted to me and I just downloaded and its on my phone.

YouView app: VVM(Visual Voicemail) for your Pre.

http://forums.precentral.net/syntactix-llc/216863-youview-visual-voicemail-app.html

It's only in beta but works pretty slick.....
