Bad year to have it be the first ten-best-picture-nominee awards. Just don't think there were ten deserving movies this year. Maybe it's because I haven't made it out much.

Jeff Bridges should be a lock for best actor.

I couldn't agree more. While there were a few solid films in 2009, I thought 2008 was much better. Still, there a few listed I haven't seen, so maybe I'm jumping to conclusions.

The only movie I've seen from the highlights you've posted is Inglorious Basterds. I'd like to see several of them but I hardly ever rent movies.

After looking at last years, I do agree. 2008 was a good year in film IMO.

In my opinion, this year's movies are a better than last years movies. But, 2007 was an incredible year (No Country for Old Men, Michael Clayton, There Will Be Blood, In the Valley of Elah, Eastern Promises, Into the Wild, Gone Baby Gone, American Gangster), and 2006 was great too (The Departed, Blood Diamond, The Pursuit of Happyness, Letters from Iwo Jima)

This year's movies suck balls! I hope District 9 blows them out of the water...Was Sandra Bullock that good for getting this nomination? I didn't see the movie, I just can't imagine her getting a nomination ha

Best Picture is tough one this year. While Avatar was good, I don't think it is best picture good. I would personally pick Inglorious Basterds as that was phenomenal. Up was good too and I need to see Up in the Air.

When "The Hangover" was mentioned as a possible "Best Pic" nom.....that tells me it was a thin year.

Funny movie, but not Oscar worthy.

I thought it was incredibly boring. Felt like a documentary more than a movie. I'm shocked it got nominated.

If Christoph Waltz doesn't win supporting actor then I hope there is a terrorist attack on the awards.

What I hope wins:

Picture - Inglourious Basterds
Actor - Jeff Bridges
Actress - Streep (heard she was great, but I only saw Blind Side of those movies)
Sup Actor - Christoph Waltz
Sup Actress - Mo'Nique (same as actress though, didnt see any of those movies)
Director - James Cameron

Bridges, Waltz, and Cameron should be LOCKS, imo.

Bridges, Waltz, and Mo'Nique are locks.

Best picture will be either Avatar or Hurt Locker.

Cameron should win director and Avatar should clean up all the visuals, sounds, and special effects categories.

Sandra Bullock also nominated for a Razzie in All About Steve. . . I have a tough time picturing her as an Oscar caliber actress.

Waltz should win. . . easy.

I saw The Hurt Locker about a week ago. . . it is a great movie. Has anyone seen Crazy Heart?

I wonder if that would be the first time someone got nominated for both a razzie and an oscar in the same year

Damn Mantooth..throw her a bone every now and then. Is it too much to throw a movie down your basement steps every now and then? Not like the movies cost you anything!

An article I read said that if she wins both then it would be the first time someone won a Razzie and a major category Oscar in the same year.

Judging by that wording, I think others have been nominated for both before.

Best Picture - The Blind Side..although I'm sure Avatar will get the win

Supporting Actor - Christoph Waltz
Supporting Actress - Mo'Nique
Directing - James Cameron
