As for the game, plain and simple, you cannot turn the ball over three times, give up big play after big play on 3rd down, make it to the red zone three times and come up empty twice in the second quarter, and let Orrville's defense hold your quarterback to 11 of 23 passing and expect to win. Regardless of what you think of the referees, Genoa hurt themselves more. Orrville came in, punched Genoa in the mouth and it took them until the mid 3rd quarter to get off the mat.
I am sad to see this year's senior class to go. They are not the ones who ran their mouths week after week online, boasting how big they win games, they instead did their talking on the field and for eleven weeks, that was louder than any of Genoa's fans' most outlandish comments. These 11 athletes played hard for their fans I surely hope it pays off for them in the future. It was hard seeing every one of them walking off the field for the last time Saturday night. I just want to thank them for giving me something to look forward to every week for the past three months. It was a great ride, I enjoyed every moment of it, and I was glad to be a part of it.
I am very proud of every player on this team and wouldn't change any one of them. They are a great bunch and I hope they saw last night as a learning experience that you have to bring your best game every week or your dream could come to a painful end.
Good luck Orrville next week against Ottawa Glandorf, they are a good team that will not give up until the last whistle.
