I said if BW could hold NSP to under 35 they would put themselves in position to win, and they did. Yes, they had 3 redzone stops on the flyers to keep in way too close. Hats off to the Royals very nice big squad who played hard to win till then end.
I agree with Hoops....I was on the home side and there were many area schools rooting against SP. I just don't get it!?!? It would be like Sp people rooting against Stiebers and Phillips to lose at the state wrestling tourney. No Way. No class.
And worse......PLEASE tell me. Why were many many people streaming out of stands with 3 min to go?? Are you kidding me!?!?! This game came down to the very LAST play. Oh my!?!? Stay home and listen on radio next time and save your money. Wow. Most were wearing blue
I agree with you whole heartily on the field position statement. especially glaring in the second half. I also appreciate that you realized that it was the Wynford defense that made big plays in the red zone to stop you not just like all the sudden you guys stunk or whatever which is what seemed to be implied earlier. I think Wynford could neutralize your speed a little better with a short field and that helped us in the red zone. We hurt ourselves twice when you were down there with penalties. Wynford's offense seemed handcuffed with field position a few times but you have to give St. Paul's defense credit for limiting much of our success. I really felt like Brause and Niedy were ready to put the team on their back with 4 minutes left but we had those back to back negative plays that just really took the air out. I thought they stepped up on those last two defensive stands and made big plays. It was inspiring to watch Tyler's play, especially on defense the last quarter, knowing he could hardly move at times suffering from the hip pointer he recieved last week. He just wanted to give his team another chance and he was a big part of that not once but twice. I know he didn't want anyone to know he was hurting and he will KILL me for bringing it up but that kid represented the guts of this senior class last night with everything he had and hardly a soul knew it in that crowd.
As for the fans leaving early. The vast majority of Wynford fans stayed utnil the game was over. I am disappointed more didin't stay to see this outstanding group get their trophy. It might not have been the one that they or we wanted but it is still a symbol of the accomplishments of this outstanding group of players. But more importantly then being great players this group of seniors are GREAT PEOPLE. The Wynford community should stand and be proud of each and everyone of them. Now for those in blue that did leave early some were WR fans I saw a lot of them go. But we do have some typical Wynford fans that show up for the final two or three games of the tournament run and then run their mouths about everything that went wrong and why did they bother anyway. God it makes me sick but it does happen and it happens in everysport at Wynford. I agree that game wasn't over to the last play. It was two spectacular teams going at it toe to toe and the better team on that night won. Congratulations and good luck next week.
