Iowa is not a Big 10 caliber team this season. Matta better be lighting a fire under someones ass right now, because that was an unacceptable half.
1-20, a week ago...MSU beat Iowa by only 7pts at MSU.

I realize Iowa is not that good...but they are very well coached and playing at home. And playing good basketball right now on the season. I said before game, this wasn't going to be easy.

I don't know about well-coached. Wouldn't be surprised if Lickliter gets fired. I've heard it mentioned by numerous people. His teams have never done anything since he took over.

OSU's defensive rotations are terrible.

Lighty gets undercut and no foul?

I've been thinking the same thing. It's gotten really bad in the 2nd half.

Why does nobody on this team know how to close out? Lauderdale comes out too hard, and everyone else comes out way too slow.

And Turner feels he is suddenly a great 3 point shooter.

Drive the ball.

This is a flat out pathetic performance.

Equally pathetic is that Iowa is only up 7.

What a fucking joke. If Turner doesn't score, this team is hopeless.

That's what was really driving me crazy against WVU and again tonight. It's pure laziness on defense. They're seriously afraid to get beat off the dribble by some 6' white kid....so they half ass their close outs.

Deibler is the problem. He loses his man on every possession.

This is easily the most frustrated I've ever been watching an Ohio State game.

No, its the guys not stopping dribbling penetration at all. You cannot let your guy get deep into the paint as it draws players like Diebler over to help.

Thanks Turner for taking my advice, drive the ball.

At this point I'd take my chances with them having to drive to the hole. Buttwrinkle hasn't hit a two point shot all year...

Matta knows more about basketball than I will ever care to know.

But I have to ask this:

Coming into this game, you know Iowa can't match up physically or match up with OSU's talent. So you know they're going to try like Hell to slow the pace down, force OSU into as many half court sets as possible, and try to break down the defense with long and patient possessions. So why, with 6:30 left in the 2nd half, does OSU finally decide to go to some man to man 3/4 court pressure?

Why not crank up the defensive pressure at the start of the half? Or during the 1st half when it was pretty evident what Iowa's game plan is?

Anyone who knows anything, knows Licklighter is a heck of a coach in terms of x and o's. Unfortunately, he isn't a very good recruiter. Him being fired wouldn't be a big surprise.
