True, cause they are definitely not the best team on the court (or ranked nationally for that matter) and will lose early in the playoffs ;)
Ya, just like LeBron and Akron SVSM were his junior year and lost. Correct me if I am wrong, but weren't they ranked top 10 in the country and the best team to ever grace Ohio high school basketball? and no one said they could lose to an Ohio team?

That Roger Bacon team that beat Lebron's team was tough as nails. They didn't back down one bit. There will be some teams that give Northland a run for their money, especially if they get hot from outside. You've got'ta have a couple guards that can relieve the pressure that Burke and Potts put on you so you can slow the game down to a manageable pace. You don't want to play in the 70's or they will run you off the court.[/align]

Link to the Central District brackets(.pdf):

Seeds aren't listed though

Potentially we could have all 3 Westerville schools playing for a District Title.

I have never heard of Westerville Central....has it always been there?

Also, people that think Northland will coast to a state crown are foolish. I am sure that they will be challenged by someone out of the Catholic conference in Cincy. One off day...that is all it takes.

Central opened in the Fall of 03.

I was an asst. boys varsity coach there for most of the first 3 years.

Wildcats20,

That would be awesome if all 3 schools make it to the finals. They all sure have a great chance. Who do you think makes the furthest run this year in Westerville?

I really haven't looked at the brackets that closely, but I'll take a look now.

The lack of size at South is going to hurt them when they play a bigger team. But they still should make it to the Final.
South will have to go through West, Darby/Jerome(my guess is Darby), most likely Marion-Franklin, and then the winner of Coffman/Upper Arlington. I think they make it to the Final, but lose to whoever they see there; if in fact it is Coffman or UA.

North has Grove City/Scioto(I know NOTHING about GC, but Scioto isn't very good), and then most likely Brookhaven(they have to get through Lancaster then Mt. Vernon/Newark), and then it would set up a Final with a VERY good Gahanna team.

Central has the Ridge in the first round. If they get past them they have Davidson; I think they do and then beat Davidson. It would set up a Semi against IMO Olentangy Orange or Liberty(for the 3rd time). And then a Final against Northland.

So just looking at all that, I think South will make the furthest run.

Upper Arlington Bracket 1 Winner
Gahanna Lincoln Bracket 2 Winner
Northland Bracket 3 Winner

I say Northland vs Gahanna Lincoln Regional Final

Who do you think is the best opening round match up? I think the Walnut Ridge vs Westerville Central game will be a good one.

Nice potential match ups at the barn on March 6:
Upper Arlington vs Coffman part 3
Marion Franklin vs Westerville South
Westerville North vs Brookhaven
Gahanna vs Beechcroft

Now I know a few of the teams I mentioned making it this far are capable of getting knocked off. It would be nice to see these OCC/ City League match ups IMO.

Just in Westerville. Detectivegibbles asked who I thought would make the furthest run in Westerville.

I think North is better suited for a longer run out of the westerville squads, but South is playing lights out right now. They literally are peaking at the right time. They owned North AT North last week.

Northland is the obvious favorite to take it all home, I just think they will run into a team with a ton of discipline and will shoot the lights out and make Northland run and play their game.

Well...as for the Westerville Schools.

Central got a 3 point win over Walnut Ridge and South beat West 100-28. North plays Grove City on Friday at Worth. Christian

The Ridge was/is a pretty solid team.

I can not believe the South score. Ed must be done with "4 to score." Not going to it when he had a 5 point lead with 6 minutes left in a quarter anymore :)

I just felt that Central was playing really good ball down the stretch...

My mom gave me a little summary Wildcats...basically, she said that Ed played everyone sparingly, no one was on the court for more than 3-4 minutes at a time and everyone scored points tonight I believe. East was just that bad...0-21 for the season I believe.

Welp....

South loses to Marion Franklin today. North beats Mt. Vernon, advancing to their 2nd straight District Final. No word on Central yet or any other game actually.

District Finals:

5 Seed Dublin Coffman vs 8 Seed Marion Franklin
6 Seed West. North vs. 2 Seed Gahanna
1 Seed Northland vs. 9 Seed West. Central

North/Gahanna should be one hell of a game IMO.

Westerville Central....student sections...cracked me up....they chanted...."Bring on Northland" The Vikings were sitting right down in front of us just laughing.....

Central almost gave the game to Pickerington North down the stretch.....was a very good game.
