I have to say that I felt embarrassed for him a little bit when he was explaining that a budget freeze wouldn't take place until next year, because that's how budgeting works - and there was clear laughing going on in the cheap seats.
I bet he was hating that moment.

I can't remember the last time a State of the Union spent so much time on domestic policy that is largely out of his hands. He is basically begging Congress on these issues. I get it, but too much time was spent on some stuff. Pretty much 90% of the speech for policy is out of his hands.
Some of the ideas were nice, tax cuts, focus on 21st century jobs (to keep ahead of China), nuclear plants (which he was for during the campaign, just not the 45 that McCain wanted) and education reform.
I thought he wouldn't even mention Iraq, Afghanistan and was really surprised by the mention of the World Free of Nukes quote, along with the START Treaty and the April nuclear summit meeting. (Although a reference to the Test Ban Treaty would have bee nice).
I had low expectations and was right, it was an alright speech, he got a backbone and hopes he can actually push through the BS of this town.
BTW, I hate how McDonnell is giving his speech in the state house. I hate all the applause. Nothing new in this address so far.

I can't remember the last response that was given in front of a crowd. It is like he wants to emulate the President. No crowds, just give your response and state your facts.ccrunner609 wrote:Isnt that what you usually get?? bTW he is a govenor so if you dont live in VA he sint waisting your dime.Tinkertrain wrote: I wasnt wild about Obama's speech but I'm REALLY not wild about this guy from virginia wasting tax payer dollar's to give a party line response.

Very few of the responses i've ever seen have been in a state house wasting tax payer money. It doesnt matter if it's my tax money or some guy in virginia's it's still wasting tax payer money.ccrunner609 wrote:Isnt that what you usually get?? bTW he is a govenor so if you dont live in VA he sint waisting your dime.Tinkertrain wrote: I wasnt wild about Obama's speech but I'm REALLY not wild about this guy from virginia wasting tax payer dollar's to give a party line response.
