What a stupid shot. Is that really what they planned for with 16 seconds left on the clock?

Woooooowwww...
Elliot went for the winner!
Great game.
I was really hoping Elliot could have hit that shot with his mom there in attendance..

Wish Williams could have got a look in rhythm there.
KU holds on for the win.

As I suspected this was a very close game throughout but what I didn't expect is KU couldn't put Memphis away.
I figured late in the 2nd half KU would take control and win by double figures. They appeared to be doing so but they Memphis just kept hanging around.
I don't want to hear anything about favorable calls. Kansas scrapped out a crapfest of a game. This is one of those normal early season November games where both teams play terrible on offense but play good D and someone has to win. Kansas is the more talented team and IMO that is why they won this game.
Regardless of the score Kansas moves to 2-0. The Jayhawks are far from a finished product but they have time to improve and I know Coach Self will use this game as motivation to get it into KU players' heads that they have to play better to win the big one.

Also, what was with everyone cramping up tonight in both games? KU and Memphis both had multiple players dealing with cramps. I know this happens in Maui but in St. Louis?

Probably has a lot to do with it being the first game of the year and players are getting their bodies used to the game.

Ehh KU didn't look good at all, but I'll chalk that up to early season and rust and maybe a little jitters from the "new guys".
You can tell Xavier Henry is going to be so good, he just didn't play a very good game last night.
KU is so deep, I can't wait til they start jellin a bit and come together as a team and show their strength.
But hey, I'll take a win over Memphis any day of the week.

An ugly win over a good team is still a win. But KU still has some growing to do, which is to be expected. It seems that many of Self's teams start a little slow but finish strong. Let's hope that's the case this year.

Who was that man mountain playing for Memphis??? Elliot Williams looked good and will thrive in Memphis' pressure defense and offensive freedom.I think the demise of Memphis has been vastly overstated. They have some athletes.

^^^The demise of Memphis will not happen. At least not soon. Have you seen their recruiting class for next year?
It will really depend on Pastner and how well he can coach his first couple years with a lot of talent on his teams.
