I don't think it would be wise for YOU to take on the responsibility of caring for TWO living things.coyotes22 wrote:Where?GoChiefs wrote: I know where you can get one for free right now!![]()

Chiefs,,,
I have a buddy that used to have a Husky (she has since passed away), but, he said that she had dug a hole in his backyard, deep enough that she could lay in it, and all you would see was her ears. She would lay in this hole and wait for squirrels, coons, cats or rabbits to walk by the hole and jump out and catch them.
Have your Huskies done this?

Yep..they also do this for a bed. It's instinctive for them to do it b/c it's how they keep warm in the winter outside. Huskies are very prey-driven as well. All the huskies I have been around hate ANY animal that's not a dog.

Something else you need to watch out for and keep an eye on if you have other pets..they are protective of their food as well. Lol We have to feed ours separately as they will get into fights b/c they try to guard the food bowls and refuse to let the other in it. My oldest..she won't let the younger husky or our yorkie get into the food bowl until we yell at her to get out of the kitchen. The youngest doesn't mind the yorkie getting into it..but she won't let the oldest get into the food bowl.
Also with walking on a leash..it is very hard to train them for this actually. Start out now. They are sled dogs remember. Whenever they get hooked onto a leash..they want to pull. Not just walk along with you. And they are really powerful dogs. So start that out young too.

As you mentioned..beating them does no good. They are very stubborn animals. Keep in mind they are not your 'typical' dog. They still have that 'wolf' aspect that all other dogs have had bred out of them over the generations. Therefor..they still have the 'pack' mentality. Along with being stubborn, they are also very strong and extremely clever dogs.
Truth on the wolf aspect...and that's a good thing.

I think it's funny that Coyotes didn't know what Zwick was talking about when the thread started.
BTW, I went to the Sportsman Show at Dalton and they had coyotes mounted on display. I never realized what an ugly nasty looking animal they are, imo.
But I like your Huskie, Coyotes. Good luck and don't beat it!
Oh, I am still thinking before I vote on the poll.

Out here in Seattle we have coyotes come in out of the woods. There was one in front of my house recently. They are a real nuisance. They eat pet cats and dogs.BRF wrote: I think it's funny that Coyotes didn't know what Zwick was talking about when the thread started.
