I'll take Georgetown because of Monroe, although I think both teams are very good.

At the Dome tonight? Orange by 3 in OT. 78-75. Georgetown takes the rematch at their place late in the season. Jackson and Onuaku vs. Monroe should be a entertaining battle down low. Rautins didn't score vs. Marquette on Saturday. I think Andy drains a few from downtown tonight.

Should be a great game. One of the best rivalries in all of college hoops. Should be a great atmosphere at the Dome tonight.

GO 'CUSE!!!!!

I like Syracuse. Wesley Johnson is one of my favorite players in the college game.

Greg Monroe is a dynamic player, and it will depend on what the guards from G'Town can do to get him the ball in favorable positions vs the zone. If he has to come all the way to the FT line all night to get the ball inside the zone, it plays into Syracuse's hands. If he can get it short corner or closer to the blocks G'Town will have a very good shot at a win.

I actually like Georgetown, although I'm not sure they will win tonight. However, I'm higher this year on them than in the past because Monroe is so versatile and they have guys who can shoot consistently outside. With that said, we will know a lot about them as 3 of their next 4 games are against Syracuse, Duke and Villanova.

'Cuse is really taking it to the Hoyas tonight, leading 62-47 with 2:57 to go. I haven't watched much of the game, but I'm certainly surprised by the margin. Figured this one would be a little closer.

Surprisingly lopsided finish after the Hoyas silenced the Carrier Dome early, leading 14-0 at one point.

Glad I went with the Orangemen in this one.

Yeah, Syracuse played outstanding D tonight. The zone was as active as it's been all season. G'town is still a darn good team and I think they win the rematch in a few weeks.

Wes Johnson played a whale of a game defensively. His best defensive game to date. Austin Freeman was unconscious early but the Orange weren't rattled. Rautins played a great game as well. Jardine and Joseph off the bench provided a spark for the 'Cuse tonight. Syracuse hasn't been this deep in years.

GO 'CUSE!!!

Johnson is indeed a great player. Probably the #2 draft choice at this point behind Wall.

Why did a kid from Texas leave Iowa State after two years and go to Syracuse?

To play for one of the greatest college basketball coaches around? Because he wanted to?

Did something happen at Iowa State that caused him to transfer?

Not that I know of. And I'm guessing in this day and age....if there was something that happened that caused him to transfer-it would be out there. From what I read, his coach at Iowa State tried to talk him into staying.

Who knows what this young man's reasons for transferring were. That's his business. I'm just enjoying watching him play for Syracuse.

Syracuse has come a long way since its exhibition loss to LeMoyne. I think they are way overachieving this season.

Kids that transfer usually cite a lack of playing time. I would not think that was a problem for him at Iowa State.

I watched Boeheim on PTI. He said Johnson is the leading scorer , but only takes about 11 shots per game. Pretty amazing.

This is the most unselfish Syracuse team I've ever had the pleasure of watching. No "big" egos. The exact opposite of last year.

I found a website where the question "How did the Orange get Wes Johnson?" was asked........

How did Wes Johnson end up in Syracuse? Did we originally recruit him before he went to Iowa State?
— Brian

Syracuse did not recruit Johnson prior to his arrival at Iowa State. In fact, few Division I programs showed interest in him.

Johnson was a lightly recruited prospect out of Corsicana, Texas. He originally planned on attending Louisiana-Monroe, but decided he could do better and headed off to prep school. After stops at The Paterson School in Lenoir, N.C., and Eldon Academy in Petoskey, Mich., Johnson picked Iowa State over offers from Charlotte and San Diego State.

As a freshman, Johnson averaged 12.3 points and 7.9 rebounds. He was the second-best freshman in the Big 12 behind Kevin Durant of Texas. However, as a sophomore, he suffered a stress fracture in his left tibia. He played despite the injury and averaged 12.4 points and 4.0 rebounds. He soured on the Iowa State program, the Cyclones’ playing style and his role.

He chose Syracuse over Pittsburgh, Ohio State, West Virginia and a host of other schools because of the Orange’s playing style under coach Jim Boeheim.
