TCU is ahead 38-14 right now. Assuming they'll hold on to win, they'll have wins over two top 20 teams, a win over Clemson with a player in Spiller who many think should be in the top 5 of Heisman talk ON THE ROAD, and an absolute killing of Virginia, again, on the road. The last time I counted, that's 4 games not 1. If they're a team from such a "crappy" conference, they shouldn't be able to compete with the likes of those "big" schools, especially at their place, right?
Look buddy, they're not just winning, they're straight up smoking people. Their last 5 games (including tonight against Utah):
44-6
38-7
41-0
55-12
38-14 right now. It's HALFTIME and will probably be worse.
Do you honestly think they wouldn't be able to play with teams in the ACC, Big10, BigEast, or Big12? The only team in ANY of those conferences I could see being a clear favorite is Texas. Cincy, Ohio State, and Oregon would all be great matchups, but what YOU are failing to understand is that TCU is not like playing a MAC team. They HAVE defense, and it's GOOD. And it's athletic. They can stop the run, and they have the athletes to contain the pass. They can play with anybody in the country, week in and week out. Is it like that every year? Probably not. Is it like that THIS year, and have then been consistent from week 1 until right now? Yes. You can't discount a team just because they don't have the "big" name. You have to start somewhere. Your logic is that we should discount their whole season because YOU THINK that they couldn't play week to week in a BCS conference. Well guess what? They could this year, and they would beat the vast majority of teams in those conferences. You can't say "what if" when you rank teams; it's based off of what they've done so far. And right now, with the way the've beat down two top 20 team, plus their road games vs BCS conference opponents, they have a great resume. Plus, they're going to have a chance at another key win on national TV in the Mt. West championship game. In my mind, with the way they're blowing people out, and they finish at 13-0, if the teams in front of them stumble, they will and SHOULD be in the NC game. I'd love to see them play an SEC team too. Texas has the best offense of the 3 teams ranked above them. If they play Alabama or Florida, they match up extemely well. If you think they'll be scared, I'd think again. Their coach will have them ready. It wouldn't suprise me at all that if they would make it to the NC game, they would win it.
I'm sure you were saying the same thing about Utah last year, and we saw what they did to almighty Alabama.
I stopped taking you seriously when you just cited Virginia as a big win for TCU. VIRGINIA! Virginia lost to DUKE not to mention
WILLIAM AND MARY.
So again, gimme some of what you're smokin.
HAHA oh the irony!! You're saying how crappy TCU and their conference is, and you're turning around and proving how terrible the ACC is this year, one of very conferences you're defending!!! LOL, if that isn't a 18-wheeler full of irony, i don't know what is. I'm sure you think that Georgia Tech deserves their BCS bid then, seeing as how they play these powerhouses of Duke, Virginia, NC State...lol Georgia Tech has two, TWO good wins, and both were at home! Virginia Tech and Clemson. A very average Miami team smoked them by 16 points. But that's ok, because they play in a "BCS conference".
All I'm saying is this genius: TCU has played in 4 games where the talent was pretty evenly matched, and they were not the favorite; i.e. it could have gone either way. And they won all 4. 3 of those games were on the road. They are UNDEFEATED. If they are so bad, and don't deserve to be where they are, then WHY CANT ANYBODY BEAT THEM??????? You're ACC champion, played Jacksonville State (D.1AA), Vanderbilt and Mississippi State (both perennial bottom feeders of the SEC) OOC. The only good game they play OOC is Georgia, and they're not very good this year. Meanwhile, instead of playing bottom feeders of other conferences of EQUAL SIZE (i.e. BCS conference vs. BCS conference) TCU went out and scheduled 2 teams that are usually in the middle to upper echelon of their conference, which is a "BIGGER" conference (i.e. Non-BCS conference vs. BCS conference). They could have taken the easy road like Boise State did, and scheduled 1 good team, but they didn't. They scheduled 2, and beat both of them.
My comment about Virginia was not so much there as a "look how good this win was" it was in response to your comment that TCU "only has to get up for one or two games a year, whereas BCS teams have to play hard every week". Do you really think that football is that different between BCS and Non-BCS schools??? It's still football. If you don't show up, you're going to get beat. I will guarantee you that every team in the Mt. West is giving TCU their very best shot, because they want to be the team that spoils their chance at the BCS and a possible NC game.
So let me get this straight...by your logic, TCU wouldn't have to "get up" for games at Virginia or Clemson, but a team like Georgia Tech DOES have to "get up" for those games because they play in the same conference as Virginia and Clemson? Did you graduate in '44, is that what the 44 in your name means? Because your perception of college football is severly skewed. I'd put money on you being senile.
You have two choices: You can either admit that TCU has to play at an intensity level just like everyone else for each game of the season, thus making them a legit contender, or you can stick to your original argument, and look like a jackass, since you just admitted that teams like Virginia and Duke are no good, and thus the good teams in their conference don't have to "get up" to play them either. Either way your argument is screwed. But thanks for playing, and backing yourself into a corner all on your own. You did my job for me.
