Dalton needs to hit outside shots to win this one. Hillsdale really pounds the ball inside using a lot of discipline so it is going to take a collective effort to keep the big men from getting theirs.

how many times are we going to try and stall the fourth qtr. and give up big leads? we attack thru 3 qtrs and blw teams away then sit back and let them get back in the game. Makes it hard on us old timers.

Probably when the NFL teams stop going to a prevent defense at the end of the game. Same mind set. If you got there playing aggressive why go to a non aggressive approach?

Wow! This has to be one of the most balanced, competitive WCAL boys basketball seasons ever. Glad to see that most the teams were not in awe when the Smithies show up and just hand them the title as pre-season favorites. Lots of close games and then Norwayne pulls off a shocker last weekend to set up the stakes for Dalton Hillsdale. Now the Dalton- Smithville game is the next big one. But any team that lets down their guard could stir the pot once more! It will be interesting to see what happens when Smithville gets Frizell back. Keep it up fellas!

Smithville will get better definitely, but will he help enough after being off this long to make a difference.

i agree wackodog - I think Stutz has done a very good job with this team, but the one thing I hate is the stall - when you are rolling, keep rolling. The stall takes them out of their rythm, shooting and otherwise. If the Bulldogs beat who they should like Waynedale, Norwayne, and Chippewa, then they have at least a share of the title. That being said, I don't think they have any plans on losing another to smithville as they let that first one slip away. Does anyone know if/when Raff will return for Dalton? He has been out for a long while and definitely helps their depth at forward.

Slowing the game down has it's place, even when your rolling. But not for a whole quarter. Maybe 2 minutes when you're up 15. But.... gotta make your freebies!

Agreed

Too bad about Raff - is it a shoulder? I guess they have been playing without him for quite awhile now, just would have been nice to have that extra depth come playoff time. Hopefully he gets healed up and gets to play some baseball (and fball next fall).

dalton and hillsdale will be watching smithville and northwestern tonight. If the huskies can pull it off, Dalton is in very good shape and will win the league regardless of the outcome of their matchup with smithville as long as they take care of business against the other teams they have left (chippewa, norwayne, waynedale). I have to think the smithies will take it, however and set up a huge game next friday night.

I don't think it will be any secret who the rest of the county will be rooting for in that game (Northwestern). 1486wd Bulldog fan here, I hear we have to hike all the way to garfield Heights this year? What kind of drive is that going to be for us 1hr 20? Any tough teams up there? Sorry I have been out of the loop for awhile and haven't paid much attention

actually, I don't know that its really going to be much farther - probably about the same (hour or so) It depends how far off the highway the school is. Most of the teams are the same as they were in strongsville - Lutheran East and Bedford Chanel have been very good the past few years and I believe richmond and cuyahoga heights will also be in the mix along with rittman and dalton. Dalton has a solid shot of getting to regionals - my guess at this point is that they will have to get through chanel. Chanel is a young team that plays a tough schedule and have been improving as the season progresses.

Actually - I just checked, mileage and time look about identical on mapquest - 1hr drive, about 50 miles to both. We'll just be taking 21 to 77 instead of 57 to 71.
