still have not heard when either of these games will be made up. I would not be surprised if the strasburg game does not get made up at all as there is very few possible dates left and it is a nonconf. game anyway but who knows. They need one of those two games for senior night as they have no ther home games.

wow - smithies looked good tonight. When they hitting jump shots they become very tough. juumped out to a big lead on dalton who could never get back in it. The return of frizell gives them the only thing they were lacking without him - someone who can shoot off the dribble. They had the inside game and they had set up three point shooters, but no one that could do it off the dribble. This team will be tough at wooster. Dalton has no room for error if they want the league.
on a side note - rap music pumped into the speakers before a high school game just doesn't have the same atmosphere as a pep band brings, IMO

I don't claim to be a basketball expert or anything but when you're getting stuffed repeatedly inside shouldn't you maybe try for some open shots on the perimiter to maybe open up the inside? And why stall with 40+ seconds left in the qtr for a last shot when your down by 18!

i think he just wanted to get out of the quarter and settle things down. I do like the idea of a shot clock - maybe like 40 - 45 seconds, longer than college.

wow very surprised with the outcome of that game. looks like smithville is back?

as far as the shot clock I love the idea but hasn't it been said its too expensive for schools? couldn't they give the schools like four or five years notice and say for example in 2015 we are making the shot clock mandatory you have this many years to comply? or is it more expensive than I realize

i still think smithville has one main weakness - guard quickness. Lint was able to drive often last night - the problem was his only options were to shoot o himself or dish to somebody else that gave up 7 inches to the smithville defenders. A team that has quick guards, plus guys inside that can matchup with orr/caldwell can pose problems for smithville. I did not see the games, but I suspect that is what happened to them against hillsdale. paulin is as quick a guard as you will see and when he penetrated, he had moore, crossen, cline to dish to. IMO you will see a smithville - orrville matchup in districts and the red riders will move to canton.

All I'm missing are the Feb. 6 Norwayne @ Dalton reschedule date and the Feb. 9 Dalton vs. Strasburg score/reschedule date.

I really don't think Lint could drive that much, he looked very passive to me. Bates did a good job on him.

really? Every time he tried to drive - he could. He just usually had nowhere to go when he got amongst the trees although he had several great finishes. Agree about him being passive though - the whole Dalton team looked passive all night. Several great box outs, then noone went for the ball. Also way to many missed bunnies - especially in the first quarter. You can't get down like that to a team like smithville and have any kind of chance.

looks like everyone kept pace this weekend (smithville, dalton, hillsdale with NW clinging to some faint hope). Dalton has Norwayne left next Friday, Smithville has Northwestern (probably the best chance for an upset), anyone know who HIllsdale plays? It seems like it is Waynedale or Chippewa, but I'm not sure. Barring upsets, it looks like we may end up with a three way tie for first in the WCAL with all three teams completing sweeps of one of the others with smithville sweeping dalton, dalton taking both from hillsdale and hillsdale getting the smithies twice.

The Dogs lost tonight. I think the score was 50-46. Heard the offeciating was not to good but the Dogs need to come back strong this week.

that's not good - Mogadore isn't usually too good on the hardwood (although I have no idea about them this year). Kind of an off weekend as they didn't play real weel at Waynedale Friday either. They have a tough week coming with Loudonville Tuesday, Strasburg Thursday and Norwayne friday.

Dalton lost 63-53. I was told we had trouble with their height. We were down 19 at the half. Sounded like Loudonville was shooting very well. Anybody got a NW/Smithville score?

wow Bulldogs have lost 3 of 4 and have not played real well in their last two wins either. Bad time to be playing your worst ball. They seem to be one of the teams that was really hurt by the long layoff for whatever reason. Hopefully they can turn it back around by next week. They have a very tough game Thursday against Strasburg and a very important game Friday to clinch at least a share of the WCL title. With Smithville out of the picture, who does Hillsdale play Friday?
