Hey, since we are playing the "if" game, IF he had returned them for TDs Carey would have definately returned the ensuing kickoffs for 6 too, both of them. They would have surely been negated IF only he wasn't sick. . .

From where I sat...Carey's defense held a potent Ada offense to 14 points first half and shut them down in the second half points-wise..even with all those "quick snaps" and Mr. Jackson..who is very good but not great. Carey's offense was hurt by the fumble on the 16 and all the penalties that stopped drives..and the refs are always right, aren't they? Everybody in the house thought Norden was in the endzone on 3 and goal...so realistically the score could easily have been 14-14 and should have been 14-7 at the half....wouldn't OT have been fun?


Ada has a nice team, and I wish them good luck next week...

Specific observations:

Carey was obviously more successful in shutting down the Ada offense than any team that they have faced this year.

Ada's defense did a nice job for most of the game and Carey made some extremely costly mistakes.

Jackson's decision making as a passer and his passing accuracy was well below what I've seen in previous games. Carey's pressure can be given most or all of the credit for that. He didn't have the type of time that he often did against other opponents.

This was a great game by two great teams.

Don't let your comments take anything away from either team.

Both Defenses did a spectacular job.

And as for the Goal Line stance at the end of the first half, I don't care what it looked like from the stands or the pressbox 70 yards away at an angle at best, I've seen the replay on the TV about 5-6 times and the runner was stopped short of the endzone.

I have not seen the final stats on this game but on paper you would have to swear Carey won this game by 40 points.


Fact of the matter is - it doesn't matter how you look at it, what the stats say..........all that matters is what it says on the scoreboard at the end of the game.

Because sometimes humans make errors which can be corrected with instant reply. Not because someone in the press box has a better view. From the 50 yard line it is hard to tell a 2 yard loss from a 2 yard gain at the goal line.

Just another season of woulda, coulda, shoulda!! Lets' face it; until that offensive scheme changes, Carey fans are relegated to the fact that this type of short playoff run is going to have to be good enough until all the other teams in the playoffs cannot stop the run??????????? I agree with this 100%. The last 2 years watching Carey in the playoffs, this has been a discussion in the stands. The offense works great running through the MAL, but when you play a team as or more physical than you, or a well coached team that can stop it, you are dead in your tracks.

Say, how did the spread work for Riverdale this year? Why is it that you were able to make it out to watch Carey in the playoffs both this year AND last year? Not trying to say anything, love, just sayin. . . .

Carey's offensive scheme had nothing to do with losing this game. This discussion is so predictable and dead-horse. Mistakes (penalties,turnovers) are the reasons Carey lost. Also, let's give credit to Ada's defense.

I had thought when Delphos St. John's took Hopewell Loudon out in the State Finals last year with a running attack, it might open some eyes...guess not

Let me ask you this question. Did Carey's lack of a passing game lose them both the DSJ and Ada games? Because last time I checked neither of these teams stopped Carey dead in their tracks nor even came close to it.

Carey has lost the last two playoff games by committing turnovers, not their offensive scheme.

If you want to argue this point I'll glady be waiting for you and ataway to come up with even a remotely close argument. Please, I beg you to come up with some evidence that Carey's offensive schemes cost them the games.

I'll start it off, in both playoff games, Carey outgained DSJ and Ada (supposedly one of the most potent D6 offenses). In both games Carey had great success on the ground. And in both games Carey made untimely and costly turnovers that resulted in 28 of the 35 points scored against Carey during those two games. Not only did Care run effectively on Ada, but they did it with 10 guys in the box. If Carey doesn't commit the turnovers they win just like last year. No excuses at all because great teams cannot commit turnovers and expect to win.

And I won't even get into the penalties that stalled two good looking drives in the game.

No, I think that the point was that officials standing on the goal line have a better view then those sitting in the press box.

If officials have a great view of the goal line, why do we need replay. And why do countless calls every weekend in College and NFL get over turned?

That was my exact reasoning for making that comment. Do I think the officials got the call wrong, maybe and so do a host of other people including some Ada fans. But sometimes the calls go the other way and Carey was still in the game after that play.

I give Ada credit do not get me wrong. They capitalized on two Carey turnovers and turned them into 14 points and had a bend but not break defense. Carey had a great game plan offensively and defensively which were executed outside of the turnovers.
