The "Jersey Shore" popularity is mind-boggling

OK, I admit it ... I watch "Jersey Shore," and I laugh and laugh and enjoy every guilty minute of it ...

Fast-forward to 2pm this afternoon: I work on 44th street and 3rd avenue in Manhattan, and my building is across from the "Rachael Ray Show" on 43rd street. Over the years, we've heard big commotions, and we'd flock to the window and see who it is (past celebs have included Teri Hatcher, Ellen DeGeneres, Bobby Flay, etc).

Today, we hear people going apeshit outside, so we go check it out: It's Ronnie and Vinnie from "Jersey Shore," and what must be like 200 people or so going bananas. Just unreal. PS, Ronnie is a short dude!

Yes, it's ridiculous. I haven't watched MTV in probably 8 years.

I watched about 5 minutes of this show. Hard to believe idiots like that are given celebrity status.

How this show is "popular" I'll never know. But you are right, it DOES seem like EVERYONE either watches/knows/has heard of/ or seen this show. I am proud to say, however, that I have never watched a minute of this pathetic show.

It is actually a hilarious show ... when I first heard about it, I expected the worst. But what makes the show actually entertaining is that these clowns don't take themselves seroiusly, and they spout out some fantastic one-liners. While hanging out with "The Situation" in real life would probably drive me to insanity after a few days, on TV his act is pure gold ...

I wouldnt personally be friends with those kinda people, however.. they are entertaining.. and atleast they can joke about how they are. I've seen a few interviews where they themselves have poked fun at their "Italian/Shore ways.. " so atleast they don't seem completely retarded if they atleast see how ridiculous they are!

Never watched it, either. But basically I think the popularity of these shows boils down to people enjoy watching morons act like fools because it makes them feel better about themselves.

Nothing will ever top the original idiot reality show of Joe Millionaire.

And people love watching trainwrecks in process (ie: why Springer, Maury's "who be the dad?" stuff, etc.) and from what I've gathered, just about everyone on this show is an over-the-top trainwreck in action.

And you're right. Nothing will EVER top Joe Millionaire. Get a really stupid guy who modeled in the past, have him pretend to be a wealthy, educated bastion of culture and set a bunch of golddigging hos on him. Greatest win in the history of entertainment.

I'm 28. I am an intelligent guy. I usually don't watch MTV, but I love this show. I never want to meet anyone on the cast. I'll never go to New Jersey because of the show, but the show is hilarious. These people multiply the Italian stereotype by ten. They are loud and obnoxious. Their behavior is outrageous. They are mean. They are talk about respect, but none give any. It is just too much. I could laugh at these goofs all day long.

I would hang out with Ronnie and Vinny in real life. They both seem normal.
