Tonight on TNT(10:30), we'll see rematch of last year's NBA Finals. Additionally, Kobe Bean is 30 points away from doing something only 14 other NBA Players have done; reach 25,000 in Points. Kobe will be the youngest to achieve this feat.
Thoughts?
Oh yeah, Go Lakers!

He will be the youngest until Bron breaks it as he is breaking every scoring record with his age.

Yea all of Kobe's "Youngest to Score ...." don't mean jack b.c they'll all be broken by James eventually, who will probably never lose those records b.c of the age rule. I'm cool with that.devil1197 wrote: He will be the youngest until Bron breaks it as he is breaking every scoring record with his age.
The game should be pretty good though. I don't think Kobe will hit 25k tonight, I think he needs 30 points on the dot. I say he goes for 26.

Serious note: Lakers should roll as Orlando isn't close to last years team imo.

They were stupid for blowing up a roster that didn't need it.devil1197 wrote: Serious note: Lakers should roll as Orlando isn't close to last years team imo.

It seemed like everyone on the old huddle knew getting Carter was a bad move, but all the talking heads on ESPN said it was such a great move and it would put them over the top.

If VC could stay healthy and accept a different role than he is used to, it very well could.HighRoller74 wrote: It seemed like everyone on the old huddle knew getting Carter was a bad move, but all the talking heads on ESPN said it was such a great move and it would put them over the top.
BUT..
Vince Carter is, and always has been a bitch, and much like Iverson, he will never sacrifice to win a ring.

Yep, a lot of us were happy the moment it was announced that Hedo was leaving and being replaced by Wince Carter..
This should be a great game and I can't wait for it honestly.. While it's not the same Orlando squad, they'll be wanting to prove something and LA has been shaky this month ( but so has Orlando)..
Kobe will get 25k, there is no way he's going to leave that hanging with a chance to get it on National TV.. Even if he has to throw up 30 shots to get it.
Lakers win, probably by a score of 107-100

Speaking of Carter not being a good addition... I remember when people were floating the idea of the Cavs trading for him.... I would have died if that ended up happening. Carter, TMac, Iverson... those are just some players I really wouldn't want on my team if it was a Championship contending team. Now if the team had no chance, why not. But I don't think those guys have what it takes to put themselves aside and do what's best for the team.

The whole "youngest" to reach certain levels in points or whatever is pretty stupid to me, with the age to play in the NBA changing several times over the years. It should be by fewest # of games to reach a certain level of points.
For example:
Wilt took 492 games to reach 20,000 pts
Jordan 617 games
Kareem 683 games
Bird 797 games
Karl Malone 754 games
Iverson 714 games
Kobe 841 games
Lebron currently has played 514 games and is at 14236 pts and will probally need another 210 games to reach 20000 pts giving him 714 games.
The way Kevin Durant is scoring he may end up there pretty high also.

Yep. Not to mention that they should not have gotten rid of Courteny Lee...he flourished in their system.devil1197 wrote:Yeah shoulda paid TurkTrueblue23 wrote:They were stupid for blowing up a roster that didn't need it.devil1197 wrote: Serious note: Lakers should roll as Orlando isn't close to last years team imo.

And now he is on the lowly Nets. Dumb, dumb move. What they really needed to do was leave the team alone and get rid of Ron Jeremy.

Also, I agree with TrueBlue....when Lebron breaks these records, they won't be broken because of the age rule.
I look for the Lakers to win this one, but who cares....I wish it was the playoffs already. We all know who the contenders are, so the discussions are getting very stale.

Yes, LeBron will be the youngest, but could have have got to those milestones faster game wise if he did spend 3-4 years in college first like some of the people above? Think how much better his game would have been before entering the NBA.
So it's kind of silly to point at one being better. What's impressive is how LeBron was able to dominate while being so young, it's kind of foolish to just discount that.

I don't think he would have got there quicker. He has been option 1, 2, and 3 for his entire career.Fly4Fun wrote:But they represent two different things...Skyhook79 wrote:JakeGiant wrote: Tonight on TNT(10:30), we'll see rematch of last year's NBA Finals. Same could be said for Kobe, a lot people forget that Kobe came off the bench his first two yearsFly4Fun wrote:But they represent two different things...Skyhook79 wrote:JakeGiant wrote: Tonight on TNT(10:30), we'll see rematch of last year's NBA Finals. Yeah Kobe wasn't good enough physically or mentally to have a whole franchise put on his shoulders as an 18 year old.
He had his shot to carry a franchise but he went the easy route and demanded to be traded to the Lakers on draft night.
