I am a big David West fan, so I would like to see this deal happen. I believe he actually makes less/yr. than Z also.

This would be a great move for the Cavs! Hate to see Z go, but you gotta do what's best for the team!

I wouldn't trade Z unless they know he is going to be bought out. If he is, then I would do this in a second.

Well Z would most likely come back in a buy-out. If New Orleans is looking to move arguably their second best player, they are pretty much throwing in the towel for this season, so they wouldn't need Z.

I thought the Hornets said that they didnt want to touch their core players? I think the Cavs have a better shot at landing Jamison then they do West. Jamison is getting up there in age and he has a pretty ugly contract but the guy is still getting it done.

If you can get David West for Z you have to do it.

Z will most certainly be bought out, and will come back to the Cavs in 30 days.

Cavs would have one hell of a front line, and plenty of depth too.

C-Shaq, Z, Andy
PF- Da. West, JJ, Andy, Powe
SF-Lebron, Ja. Williams, Moon
SG-Parker, De. West, Moon
PG-Mo, De. West, Boobie

I don't think the Hornets know what they want to do. They aren't out of playoff contention or anything, but it's doubtful that they make it deep in the playoffs either. I will say this, if ever there was a year for them to blow up the team, well aside from CP3, this would be it. There's a ton of talent entering the draft at the PF position, so this would be the year to replace West. Derrick Favors, Ed Davis, Patrick Patterson, Greg Monroe, DeMarcus Cousins, etc. are just some of the names of guys that would be available. I don't see any scenario where this trade would end up being straight up though. I think we would probably have to take back at least one more contract, and maybe give up a pick in the process, which I am okay with. It's not like we are gonna have any cap space to sign a big name next year anyways.

West, Jamison or Murphy put the Cavs over the top

Assuming Z is bought out

Agreed. Z for West wouldnt work financially. I could see the Cavs offering JJ with the Hornets throwing in Posey.

I don't want Murphy at all. West would be ideal and I would be ok with Jamison.

Cleveland got rid of Karl just for the reason of making a lop sided trade with Z.

I have to imagine that any trade involving Z (outside of a superstar) has to include him being bought out. Having both Z and Shaq lets Cleveland do a lot of things imo.

Z + pick for West I'd do in a heartbeat only if Z is bought out.

I've never really been that high on David West. I'd much rather have Jamison

I'm a big fan of David West, add in the fact he's younger than Jamison, he'd be a big part of this team for years to come.

Indeed. I'd give it a 97.5% chance of Z getting bought out. Those teams aren't going to be very good with or without Z, so pay him 11 million to finish the season, or pay him a fraction of that to go back to Cleveland, and let some of your younger players get more PT? Another positive would be that Z would get a month of rest before getting back on the floor. For a 30+ year old big that would be nothing but good news.

I think this would be a likely scenario
New Orleans gets Z, Jamario Moon, JJ Hickson
Cavs get David West and James Posey

New Orleans saves a ton of money by losing those two contracts. Hickson gives them a young PF that will be able to get a lot of playing time. Moon's contract is only guaranteed through next season, so they would not have to pay the final 2.9 million year, and with losing West, they also wouldn't be paying his 7.5 million owed that year.

I like what Moon brings to Cleveland so I wouldn't want to see him in the trade.

I love the idea of bringing in West, I just think the Cavs have a better chance of getting Jamison. I will say this, if Ferry is able to bring in either one and Z is bought out I dont think there is a team in the league that can stay with the Cavs in a 7 game series.

KR, yes there is and thats the Lakers who will still probably have better over talent than Cleveland.

It wouldn't be a deal buster to me. His numbers are nearly identical to Posey's in everything but contract amount and steals, which is why I think New Orleans may be intrigued by him as a possibility. Posey is a terrific on ball defender, solid outside shooter, so it's not like we would be downgrading. We would just be taking on more money, which, when you're already gonna be cap strapped, matters zero.

Lakers starting 5 is as good as there is, I'm not sold on their bench though. Outside of Odom I dont see anybody that really puts a scare into opposing teams.

I'd agree. I think easily if we got West we would be the deepest team in the game with Z getting bought out.

Mo Williams/West/Gibson
Parker/West
James/Moon
West/Varejao
Shaq/Z
That's impressive, especially if our role players can keep playing well.
