I'm very much aware of that. But the way we played against Georgia Tech and the way we played against Xavier a few days ago was fantastic. I don't know if we should be undefeated, but I do know that we should have a much better record than what we have. Two consecutive one-point losses were a disgrace. And we should have beaten Xavier and New Mexico on the road. Unfortunately, we didn't, so now we have to climb out of a hole.

Kansas, Kentucky, and Syracuse could all have 3 loses and they would still be ranked ahead of an undefeated Dayton.

I doubt that. I think any undefeated team from a good conference at this point in the season would be ranked number one. But it's a moot point because Dayton isn't undefeated.

We did play a great game again tonight. I hope this is the start of a trend. Don't forget that we were the preseason favorite to win the A-10.

Dayton really choked today. I can't believe we blew a 15-point lead against a team that has nothing but freshmen and sophomores. After the two previous wins, I thought Dayton had it back on track, but I guess I was wrong.

Dayton has to be the most under-achieving team in the country. We are only about 20 points away from being ranked in the Top 10. Six of our seven losses have been by 6 points or less, including back-to-back 1-point losses and a loss to a bad team in double overtime.

This was supposed to be Dayton's year. I just don't know what happened.

It's funny to me how Dayton and Xavier can both have identical records after tonight and one is a lock for the NCAA tournament and the other is probably not in right now.

One day OOC scheduling will improve for Dayton.

I don't think that is the problem. We played three ranked teams this season in OOC and beat one of them (Georgia Tech). We lost on the road to Villanova by six and on the road at New Mexico by two. And we only lost at Xavier by four. We seem to have a lot of trouble playing on the road.

Well, we did it again. Lost by two points on the road to an inferior team. We have eight losses but we are only a dozen points away from being ranked and being a shoe-in for the NCAA's. I don't know what to make of this team.

Everybody from Dayton is thinking the same thing that I am. The Flyers are the most under-achieving team in the country. We have lost eight games and seven of them were by six points or less. Every A-10 loss has been razor close.

All I can hope at this point is that we wake up for the conference tourney. If we don't, we won't even make the NIT.

Definitely a disappointing defeat for Dayton. I wouldn't say Gregory needs to go, but I see two things that need to be addressed:

1. End-game performance in close games. Every close game the Flyers are in, they play pitiful at the end. This has been a problem for years at Dayton. I have a difficult time remembering a time in recent years when Dayton's end game won them the game. Is it that difficult to design a play for a good chance to sink a buzzer beater? I wouldn't think so, but Dayton usually is totally unorganized at the end. Sometimes, when they don't pass the ball out of bounds, it seems no one wants to make a play and they never even get a shot off. Other times someone wants to be the hero so they try to throw the ball up towards the basket hoping they will get lucky.
2. Free throw shooting. Not as bad this year as it has been in previous years, but the performance from the line is still terrible.

That being said, Dayton still has a chance for an at-large bid. The games at Temple and Richmond give the Flyers an opportunity to make up for their recent poor performances.

Gregory just doesn't strike me as a very good in-game coach. In the off-season and during the week in practice he does very well though.

Leaving a time-out on the floor when you could have had a chance to set up a more successful play than Chris Johnson launching contested from the corner would seem to be the better decision.

Gregory must be a good recruiter or Dayton wouldn't be as close as we are to success. Nevertheless, I blame him for a lot of our losses. He doesn't know how to finish a game.

Dayton bombed UMass today, but we need a lot more of that. Dayton should have at least 25 wins at this point. I just don't know what is wrong with this team.

Well, Dayton did it yet again. Another close loss on the road. Now we have to win the A-10 tourney to get into the NCAA's, and we will be a longshot.

We will probably get a home game in the NIT based on our huge attendance this season.

Well, NIT for Dayton unless they win the A-10 tournament. Which, is entirely feasible if they can actually be consistent.

That's the problem with Dayton...they just aren't that good.
Then how can you explain that Dayton lost seven games by four points or less? All but one of those losses were on the road. And the other three losses were not blowouts. We were in every game we played.

We must have something or we couldn't have played these teams so close. We are only about 20 or so points away from being ranked and being a shoe-in for the NCAA. As it stands, we will probably only get in the NIT because we averaged more than 13,000 per home game.

If you lose by a few points a few times...it's bad luck. The shots just weren't falling for you.

If you lose by a few points in every game you've lost...you're not good. You can't finish, and in my opinion, it shows a lack of coaching and a lack of heart.

Dayton was just overrated at the beginning of the season. If you wanna be the best...you gotta beat the best. And this year, Dayton is only 1-5 against the top teams five teams in the A-10. They've been so streaky all year, and you never know which Dayton team is going to show up on any given night. That inconsistency is why they aren't a good team.

Dayton shouldn't....but they will.

Like I said...there's no heart in that team. 1-6 against the top five in the A-10 is crap-tastic.

They'll make the NIT just because of their draw. But they don't deserve it. That team is just flat out no good.
