Sorry but Emmitt is not in the conversation as best ever. He strived behind a great o-line for so long.
I was not alive to see Jim Brown play but his numbers speak great volumes. I did get the chance growing up to watch Barry Sanders both on TV and live multiple times and I have yet to see anyone better than Barry. Some of his runs were just remarkable and no one had better 3 yard runs than Barry did. But for those he had just as many long runs and if not for stepping away, he would have smashed Peyton's record and Smith would never have come close.
