Universities give these kids a free ride to play football an that's fine, but when schools offer courses on football to football players and some give a letter grade that helps boost a GPA, it's borderline fraud IMO.

Honestly, I never saw that story and it was obviosuly aired at the half of an ND game on NBC. I don't agree but understand the "Basket Weaving" or "Ball Room Dancing" classes but a course on football for the football team is over the top IMO.

^^ It's not over the top when it's only a one credit class, like it is at OSU. It's not different than the one credit class basketball class I took freshman year. If it were a 5 credit class, which would then account for 5/12 of the hours needed to be a full time student instead of 1/12, then I would understand the concern.
But I have no problem with any school offering a football class for football players thats only 1 credit hour.
In fact, if you look at OSU's course catalog, every single varsity sport has their own class.
I'm not sure what happens during that one hour, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was an early morning class and that's when they conditioning or watched game film.

I went to OSU and wasn't a golfer but took a golf class and got one credit for it. It wasn't a GPA booster like you may think because it only counted 20% of a grade from my core classes. It's sad that people DO NOT take the time to read or watch things. I said SOME programs actually grade these stupid football courses. I received a grade for golf class. While I did get a whole credit for the class it did not go towards my GPA. I am guessing this is the case at most of the universities.

Just out of curiosity though when speaking on secondary violations, does anyone know what they are? Point is, some of these I'm willing to bet are so obscure and little known that were it not for such oversight and due dilligence that they would have gone un-noticed and in fact not even breeched by the NCAA as they'd be considered non-issues. But here we are talking about a recruit that got a ball point pen with a logo on it and a player that borrowed a cd from a coach and never returned it type of bullshit.

And the Oklahoma example was bad also. OU kicked those guys off the team when that scandal was uncovered- and NONE of them contributed to their run to the NC game the next year.
So no, it didn't "pay" for OU to "cheat".

Most of us have no problem with it.
When I was in college you were required to take 3 physical education classes. I got credit for playing volleyball, bowling and tennis.
How is that any different than an actual athlete -- who spends way more time at it than most people do -- gets a whopping ONE credit for his efforts.
Sheesh, some of you folks really need to get over yourselves.

osu fans must not have seen the video considering you could earn up to 10 credits taking a football class and it was a 2 credit class.

At my DIII school every athletic team(even dance and cheerleading) has itself listed as a class in the course catalog... you're allowed to take it twice for credit to earn towards your physical education requirements

If one has aspirations to be a high school or college football coach there is ABSOLUTELY NO better "class" to take than playing football for a Top 10 football program.
