This is a VERY hard choice. I think of the two, I would pick How I Met Your Mother. I think the show will prove to have more staying power in the end, and end up a very long, successful show. The characters are all likable, the show is well written, and they are good at keeping you a little on your toes.

The Big Bang Theory is hilarious. How I Met Your Mother is funny too but not as good as The big Bang Theory.

I don't really see it as a competition. I like both of them, maybe a bit more favoritism toward the Big Bang Theory

Have never gotten into the Big Bang Theory. Big fan of How I Met Your Mother. Also a big fan of the show.

BBT...show is virtually unrepeatable (a good thing, doesn't get tired)...the writing is so quick and smart.

The Big Bang Theory is quite possibly one of the funniest TV shows ever. Especially if you are a nerd like myself and get all of the "science/nerd" jokes.

The Schrodinger's Cat show was HILARIOUS.

Big Bang Theory. It was a brutal show to watch at the start of the its run, when Penny was made a prop far more often than a person. It is probably one of the two or so shows that actually improved in the wake of the writers strike, Chuck being the other.

How I Met Your Mother, though these are the only 2 shows I watch regularly right now, and 2 of my favorite shows ever. I like the style of How I Met Your Mother and Barney is hilarious, but the humor in Big Bang Theory is just tremendous. Overall I give the slight edge to HIMYM.

I like how I met your mother, but I didn't start watching it until BBT started and I caught the end of an episode on the DVR and thought it was funny. BBT is more for me though, being as I'm a nerdy prick that thinks I'm smarter/better than everyone else.
