Broke out two windows and placed firing platforms on both rotating firing positions (per reports). Quite a feat for one 64yr old guy.

I am not saying this guy did not act alone. Just that this incident given the effort requires a very high level of motivation. So what was the motive?

Heard this morning on the radio: 23 guns in the hotel room, and the shooter used an "AK-47 type gun with a stand for stability."

According to Tom Brokaw on NBC this morning, Paddock was a gun collector, and gun collectors are known to be gunsmiths capable of easily converting their weapons to fully-automatic. Sounded like a blanket condemnation of collectors to me.

I'm not a gun collector, although I know it's likely at least some have gunsmith skills. But how accurate is Brokaw's generalization?

Not sure I would confuse a high level of "motivation" with just above average intelligence and the patience/discipline to plan this out. For whatever reason he decided to do this, he probably really got off on the anticipation. Probably got that much more excited every time he progressed.

He had over two dozen weapons. His brother thought he had a couple of hand guns.

I don't know, but it's about as responsible as reporting on someone having their brakes cut, and then talking about how car collectors know how to sever brake lines because they tinker with their engines.

Just look at the CBS lawyer that got fired. No one thinks like that, or thinks it's acceptable to tweet that, unless you work in an environment with a lot of similarly minded people.

You don't even need to modify the gun to bump-fire a semi-auto...all it takes is the right grip and some practice.
