Game Friday night at CCHS. SFS has the size advantage but IMO 6'11" Storm Stanley is soft. Last year against CCHS, he was held to something like 2 or 4 points. The Irish have a lot of quickness and speed on their team so they will use that to their advantage.

I'll take Central Catholic with the home court advantage in a close one.

Stanley is very soft. He plays with no emotion. Very weak, needs to hit the weight room. I take the Irish in this by at least 8.

Central Catholic and Whitmer were two of the teams that I thought would have an excellent chance of being in the" Final Four" in the City this year. In this upcoming clash between St. Francis and Central, I like Central by 6 at home. The other two teams that I would give the "Final Four" edge to right now would be St.Johns and St. Francis. Libbey, Rogers and Waite are also capable, but the chemistry doesn't seem to be there right now. If those three teams come on also, what a race for the "Final Four" there will be. Anything is still possible.

Seems like things are fine at Libbey. No?

Game won't be decided on play by Storm. It will be how well Goldsmith, Fockler, Yodzis, Syroka, and Fought play. Storm needs to play pissed off - he can be a force, but he just seems too gentle in all the games. I'd love to see him play with an attitude and use some of that size to knock some people around...but it hasn't happened for the last 3 seasons...don't think it will tonight either. SFS has a way better team than last year, which was dominated by selfish seniors who didn't share the ball. This year's team looks to play much better as a team on both sides of the floor. Home court is definitely going to help Central, but SFS will have plenty of people there. Should be a great game tonight - I think it's going to be too even to call...

Absolutely, hookshot. I must have had a Senior moment as the Cowboys are the real deal and seem to have it going in the right direction. I also believe that those other two (Rogers and Waite)...although Waite's early season has been disappointing and Rogers, while their beginning is impressive, the jury is stll out on how well the Rams will finish, I still believe they can be a major factor as well. What a log jam! 7 teams legitimately fighting four those "Final Four" spots.

Actually, I think 8 teams are in the overall hunt. Only Woodward, Clay, Bowsher and Scott are really not factors and cannot legitimately have a team meeting and talk about "how we get to the final four".

Heard it was 37-28, Central. Was 20-20 at halftime. Storm did not score in the 2nd half. I think this is right or close to right on...

Great game Irish! Storm followed through with the whole being overrated talk. No points in the second half? I just don't get how is going to play D-1 college basketball.

Great team effort by Central Catholic. They also had a lot of help from the fans, what a hell of a crowd! The CCHS students were loud and pumped the entire, that really helped.

Lowe has no clue how to manage having a good center in the middle and it's inexcusable for him to not score any points in the second half. I don't care how soft he is, which he is, that goes to coaching. It also goes to his supporting cast not making things happen and knocking down shots. If Storm is being double teamed, someone else has to be open and they need to make shots. The only other game SFS may lose is against SJ because Whitmer is not as good people think, Rogers relies too much on Powell, and Libbey just got smacked by Rogers so that doesn't build any confidence in them for me. SJ, Central, SFS and someone else will be in the final 4. Having seen most of those teams play thus far, don't see any Cinderella this year.

Knight, with all due respect, SFS does not have a "good center in the middle". If you would have additionally seen Storm at Findlay...wow. He's a good kid but I really think it is unfair to blame coaching on him not scoring points or doing more to help the team. He's doing about everything he can do. Right now I'm not sure I see the Knights in the final four. I see Whitmer, SJJ, Rogers, Central and Libbey all with better chances.

After watching how he has been handled the last 3 years, I will blame coaching for how poorly he has been used. Has he become the dominant force that he should be at 6'11''? No, but the coaching staff has not adapted to him being there and still run the same crap that doesn't work. He also has very little help it seems when they play good teams. He does need to be more agressive on the offensive end and call for the ball more. If the coaches are not calling plays for him to get in the post and capitalize on double teams then that goes on coaching.

We just disagree. He doesn't know how to get open much, and if he gets the ball he can't score if he's contested, so what's the point? When he was a sophomore a lot of people expected more by now, but I don't put most of that on coaches. But, hey, he's got a D-1 basektball scholarship in his hands and as long as he's enjoying the game, then congratulations to him.

Storm is very soft. He cannot play up to any of the hype. He isn't 6 foot 11 either, more like 6 foot 9ish at best. He is a smart kid, but not a basketball player.

SFS seems to be falling into old habits of last year...a lot of ball hogging and thowing up shot after shot, missing them all. Lowe has to get these kids back to moving the ball unselfishly...but when you have one kid constantly bombing and missing 3 pointers...and don't sit him down to get in his face about not shooting the ball every time he touches it, then you are going to have games like they did this past weekend. Bad weekend all the way around for SFS basketball on offense (their defense was fairly strong) - hope they show some rebound this coming weekend...they either need some leadership or coaching to get on those players who are only playing for themselves...

Storm as a senior leader needs to take charge. He is a pansy and doesn't like confrontation apparently.

Storm is one of the nicest high school kids I've met - he may be soft spoken, but he's intelligent, articulate, and a good person. While I can be critical of his play as well (needs to be way more agressive, needs to improve his short shot - he misses a ton of bunnies), I don't think calling him a pansy is fair, accurate, or has place on these boards - it's a personal attack and unwarranted. Storm also plays double and triple teamed...and is constantly getting hacked with very few calls by the refs. Doesn't mean he shouldn't be stronger and more agressive and learn to deal with it/succeed regardless, but it makes it pretty tough to have good games night in and night out. The kid is going to college for free on a scholarship...that alone probably exceeds anything you've done with your life, huh??

While I think his basketball abilities are limited, I agree it is wrong to call him names. As I said, basketball scholarship -- good kind -- excellent student. We should celebrate all of that.
