I'm going all S&L here, I think the Browns win this one. Browns always play them tough, and I think we avenge our BS loss last season after going up 20-0.

Heard him on 92.3 today, still don't believe it. Like Hue gave a shit Demario Davis was gone, WHO SUCKS. I could see him having a problem with Haden cut, but "irate" seems a bit of a stretch.

I'd seen reports on Hue being unhappy about the Haden release well prior to JLC's interview. Not sure if LaCanfora was the initial source but it's not the first time I've seen when Hue wasn't pleased.

My problem with the way they run the ball is that Hue has Kizer in the shotgun most of the time. Unless you're running some gimmicky college spread bullshit, you're putting the RB at a disadvantage, putting him in the QB's hip pocket and handing off 6-8 yards behind the LOS. I know Kizer is most comfortable in the gun but they need to get him under center so Crowell at least can attack the line.

Browns are still a little bit too unknown to say "yeah they're winning this week" for me yet. They def have a good shot and its def a winnable game. Browns D is better than the Bengals and Ravens didn't look like world beaters against them. I have a hard time imagining we'll get many good runs against them since we didn't on the Steelers, and that obviously will decrease our chances of winning. I think this game will be a good barometer for how many wins we get this year. If we go in and beat the Ravens in their house, we'll probably end up around 7 wins. If we lose, we're probably looking around 4. Not sure Kizer has what it takes yet to carry us to a bunch of wins. Need to go crow going.

Until they start learning to close out games, no game is really winnable. Hell, last year they could've had 5-6 wins but the only one was a "pray he misses this" FG that got blocked. Hoping they've matured enough to not let these close games slip away. Would've loved to have seen what would've happened if they would've gotten the ball back with 3:00 left this past Sunday down 21-18.

Not sure I completely agree with this. I think you're right against good teams like Pittsburgh and Minnesota and the likes, but there's teams on this schedule like the Jets and Jags that the Browns, this year, are good enough to put away before the end of the 4th. So "learning to close" feels a little cliche, especially when applying it broadly to all the games.

After seeing the way that both of the teams you mentioned played last week, I'm not so sure (now) that those will be gimmes. And yes, they do need to learn how to close. They should've beaten Baltiwhore and the Jets last year and choked those away. I don't see this team smoking/putting away any teams this year.

Well first off it's the NFL so no games are gimmes. But you're even speaking towards my point. The Browns had chances to win last year and they're much better this year. The ones that didn't swing our way last year, swing the other way as talent shifts. So no.. Obviously there aren't any locks this year. There probably wont ever be any locks in our lifetime, that's not how the NFL works. But don't let semantics trip you up. Winnable and locks aren't the same thing. We had games we could have won with a worse defense, worse offense, and worse special teams last year.

Shit. Even in 2007, when they were decent, they didn't have many comfortable wins. They first got started in that ridiculous shootout against Cincy and they had that "stanchion" game where Dawson hit the middle of the crossbar support and the ball bounced back onto the field against the Rats. I'm not expecting blowouts but it would be nice to be able to run, and I do mean "run" not pass, out the clock to seal a 3 point victory or stop another teams offense and be able to take a couple of knees.

What you're not getting is "ability to close out games" is all talent based. That's what makes it cliche and gimmicky. Much like "hes a winner".. no he has skills required to make wins possible. You don't just learn these things. When you're consistently the worse team in the league, you're going to have a tough time "closing out games". As your talent gets better, you magically "learn" how to do it. It's not science. it's being better at you job. The Browns, as a whole, are better at their jobs this year. They'll probably be better at their jobs even more so next year as you acquire talent. When you're the worst in the league at drafting players..or just player evaluation as a whole.. you're gonna have a bad time.
