Looting in Florida before the storm … looting in Houston before residents could get back to their homes
You loot I shoot
During this time of devastation, how far should property owner rights/ authority have to protect their property?

Hopefully the home/business owners are more focused on their personal well being than material things. This is why home/businesses owners have insurance.

I think if you're alive without being on machines, then your well-being is fine. Then the focus is on getting back to your home and saving as many things as you can, building a new home. In the interim, looters take the risk and therefore any consequences that result from that risk.
I don't even know if Fla. and Texas have "castle laws" and too lazy to dig it up. Cheers!

Certainly do not condone allowing citizens to just "shoot away" at looters. This isn't a lawless society. That being said, if you loot during natural disasters, you're a piece of shit.

I 100% condone it. If you're dumb enough to loot/ rob a business at all, regardless of a storm, you deserve what you get.SportsAndLady;1871200 wrote:Certainly do not condone allowing citizens to just "shoot away" at looters. Ehh to each his own. If it were my own business I'd easily shoot. If you try to steal from hard working Americans I don't care what happens to you

If a business owner is in his business and someone breaks in and steals, shoot away

Don't loot and don't take the chance of getting shot, easy decision. Taking advantage of a disaster to make personal gain of others belongings is a choice made by a pos. If my family or myself are intruded by looters I would shoot, they have no business at my home but to commit a crime.SportsAndLady;1871205 wrote:I don't think someone who steals sneakers deserves death lol

As of 2014, Texas did have a law on the books authorizing deadly force to protect "land or tangible, movable property" - not sure how restrictive the fine print makes, though:CenterBHSFan;1871150 wrote:I think if you're alive without being on machines, then your well-being is fine. Every since seeing that movie "The Perfect Guy", I'm wondering if you're a store owner in your store, someone breaks the window and enters, you fire a shotgun with beanbag round (supposedly that's a warning shot), then you fire again with live buckshot when they keep going.
Or suppose you play a recording that sounds like the ED-209 that says, "Stop looting or I will use deadly force - you have 3 seconds to comply", then fire away when they don't. Are you in the clear for having giving sufficient notice?

Texas pretty much let's you shoot anyone committing a crime (rightfully so, whether your property or not). Not sure what you're talking about with bean bags (end up killed) or some recording. People know they're being a piece of shit, they don't need a warning to know they might die doing so

You're right, but it never hurts to be polite and go the extra mile first - doesn't anyone watch Robocop anymore?iclfan2;1871222 wrote: Not sure what you're talking about with ........ some recording. I'd follow these guys lead. I'd make it very clear that you're going to win a stupid prize if you play a stupid game at my store.

Well, it can technically be considered defensive force, i.e. not murder legally, depending on your location.Automatik;1871297 wrote:Fuck the legal system, let's just commit murder.

That said, the threat of force is likely enough to dissuade looters. Most reasonable people would agree, dying/killing over a new tv or a pair of sneakers just isn't worth it.

Pretty easy defence. Someone comes in your business or home and you shoot them. Pretty simple to claim self defense. You act like the shooter is the only one at fault heresalto;1871295 wrote:Typical Trump gun fanatic. They are thankful for a reason to legally shoot someone.

Now, I wouldn't be surprised if some of yahoo's in this thread would shoot a guy in the face for stealing a pack of Juicy Fruit. Which I would agree is absurd.
