The game was completely over and defense just stood there and let him complete long play....then just went through motions on next play.
Steelers never seal away a win. Fuck their ways. 11 fucking undisciplined penalties.
They do this shit in 80% of their wins.
Need 2-3 first downs to seal the win...far more likely to give it back, then get a PI and then hope and pray on 4 plays in the end zone

That's a catch, but it's incomplete.

In a normal world that's a reception but in the fucked up nfl terms it's not.

I get that Antonio brown is really good. But how the fuck do you let him catch that

There was a 0% chance that call was getting overturned. Steelers never get boned like that.

Caught it cleanly, landed on back, touched down had possession.....to me the roll was after the play. Had ball possessed during roll and then in came out.
To just s fan watching the game, nothing about it looked like not a catch...but we've seen plays reviewed and overturned these types.

Browns looked way better than the Bengals.
Without AB today Steelers may have looked like the worst team in football. I'll take the fortunate win.
Question for Browns fans.... Dawg Pound didn't seem very rowdy until very late. Has years of poor play worn on them or is it the success of Tribe taking a bit of the passion?....or some of both?...or does my perception just seem off.

I don't like taking moral victories, especially when it felt like you had a chance, but realistically Cleveland doesn't belong within 3 pts of Pittsburgh talent wise. Defense looked good and offense scored pts. We looked like we belonged out there.

No doubt. How that got overturned is beyond me. The league did come out and say the referee was wrong in how he interpreted that rule.. Almost cost them that super bowl run.Ironman92;1871024 wrote:Troy Polomalu says otherwise

I'm glad I was out walking around at the Yankee Peddler instead of following this game.
I wonder if Myles would have made a difference?
13 straight opening day losses. Geez!
edit: fixed typo

Defense played really well so Myles wouldn't have made a difference. If Antonio Brown hurt his ankle it would have made a difference.

Ugly win, but a win. Can't have that many stupid penalties -- would have lost to anyone remotely decent handing them that much with all that dipshitery.

Was losing my mind on that play. Announcers are thinking "outstanding catch" while I'm thinking "turn the fuck around and it's an INT."kizer permanente;1871019 wrote:I get that Antonio brown is really good. But how the fuck do you let him catch that
As far as the game goes:
Kizer gets a "C" from me. Showed some flashes and real nice throws but also missed some wide open looks. Didn't read through this thread but Joe Haden was blessed that he was facing a rookie QB in his Steeler debut because, just like in C-Town, he let three receivers get behind him, for what should've been long gains, and Kizer missed. The holding onto the ball is MADDENING. He took 7 sacks, 6 of which should've been balls he threw away. We're going to hear the media slurp all over the Watt kid's knob all week when, if he faces a decisive QB, with a quick release, he gets nothing.
The defense looked very solid, especially against the run, but NO pass rush. Was a little disappointed in Gregg Williams not trying to dial up more blitzes. This unit had too many "near misses" (the Schobert tip, which was excellent concentration for Brown to haul in that tipped ball, and that dumbass pass that they didn't defend at the end of the game that should've been an INT).
As I believe like_that & COA may have mentioned, Hue was being "pass happy" again. Have to get Crowell going.
Oh, and special teams? GFY. Giving up a blocked punt to set the tone for the game.
Overall, pissed that they couldn't pull this off because they took a supposed "Super Bowl contender" down to the wire, but not a shitty effort as we've seen before. As was mentioned, not a fan of moral victories.

Fwiw... The old browns lose that game 35-10 after going down 21-10. At least we were in it til the end.

Yeah, fuck moral victories. I've seen the browns with plenty of close loses the past 10 years. DGAF unless they get a W.

True. But they really had no business winning that game and they almost did. I'm fine with it. I wasn't ready to turn the game off after the 1st qt. That's all I really wanted out of this.

I'm not a moral victory guy at all, but I feel a helluva lot better about this opening day loss than I have in a while (did I just say that?!?)
