Microsoft announced Project Natal, a new controller-free video gaming system, which reads a players body movements with cameras and mimics them with avatars on screen, will be available for purchase by the holiday season this year.
The company had demonstrated the system at another trade show last year, but had not set a release date until Wednesday. It is still unclear how much the system will cost, although Microsoft says Natal add-ons will work with its existing Xbox 360 gaming console.
Robbie Bach, Microsoft's president for entertainment and devices, also announced a number of new games for the Xbox, including a new edition of the popular game Halo, which is due out in the spring.

If it works half as well, it will still be awesome. I am a PS3 guy, but that blows me away.

Milo demo is sweet. I would like to see raw footage of this like what it can actually do.

This has amazing potential it seems like but for me it all seems to staged. I want to see unscripted questions and actions to Milo and see what it does.

Agreed. I want to be able to see someone hand Milo a steak knife instead of a fish drawing and see what happens. Or a monster dildo. Think that'd work? ROFL.

I would rather them just have a random person off the street walk into the room and control it. Seeing someone obviously hired by Microsoft doesn't convince me that its not anymore technology than it is a well planned script with a corresponding video.

Wii doesn't do voice recognition, scanning, facial recognition. Seems like a pretty big step forward from Wii IF it lives up.

If Microsoft is ripping off the Wii controller, then what do you call this?

By the way, I'm a PS3/360/Wii guy...I own all 3 and am looking forward to the upcoming 360 and PS3 motion ideas.

you can't be serious? You realize this is revolutionary with regards to the gaming world...

as for the previous questions, I am pretty sure they will only recognize you if you have an account there. They recognize your voice and that logs you into your xbox account. I don't think a random person could walk in and do the things that chick does in the video

What if she asked Milo to pull down his pants so she could see his Wanker?

Wow. Looks amazing.

Now the question us does it really work and will you have to take out a loan to buy this thing?
