THE DEED IS DONE. The search is over. The bitching is over. The curse is lifted. After 3 years of searching my ass off, interviews, thank you notes, fuckhead recruiters, offers being pulled, etc.

I have done it. I signed an offer today and gave my two weeks notice. Holy fuck, what an invigorating feeling.

It was also 80 and beautiful in NYC, Friday, and PAYDAY.

Now it's time to libate!!!!

It's even better when they say take the 2 weeks and just pay you out that amount...

I work in marketing in specialty food, basically the liaison between marketing and sales. I'm moving to a similar role (also in food), but to a much smaller company. It's a group with multiple production facilities that's been around since the 40s, they recently were acquired by an investment firm with deep pockets and a solid vision.

I'll have a similar role to what I do now, but much more influential and sales focused. The company structure and lack of systems in place are a total clusterfuck, so it will definitely be a challenge, but the opportunities for growth are endless. That can't be said about my current role. I've been treading water for a while.

Main con? I'll be working out of a location in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn or the South Bronx. Neither are terrible, but my one way commute is now around an hour.

That can be brutal, but happy you have more posting time.

Love that. It's only happened once, but it was fantastic.

Yep. Did that when I worked up in Valley View, and it was SUCH a grind.

However, big congratulations on the new job, Automatik!

It's around 10-12 min longer than my current commute. I could possibly move if I get too annoyed by it, but I really don't want to live in Manhattan.

Oh, well hell, if it's only 10-12 minutes longer, that's negligible.

It is a great feeling! I had the pleasure of enjoying this 6 years ago when I took by current job and moved to NC. I already had a family vacation booked to Disney so I worked it out with my new employer on pushing the start date out some.

Ending up going on vacation and then putting my 2 week notice in on my first day back from vacation. We also just reorganized, and I was getting a new boss, so actually in the first meeting with him, I was putting my 2 week notice in. I did feel a little bit bad for him, but he was like what should I do. I told him who should take my spot and what parts that person needed trained on and he agreed so it worked out fine.

My last two "two week notices" were a little bittersweet as I actually enjoyed where I worked, though I was really excited to move on to the new company. The one before that was an awesome feeling. I just celebrated a year at my new job and I don't see myself putting in two weeks notice for a long time.

That's how I am feeling right now as I will be putting in my two weeks on Monday. Even though I have my gripes, I enjoy the people I directly work with, but a promotion, 22% raise, and chance to move close to home (which is not easy to do) if I ever decide to makes it worth it.
