As of today, she's at 10 weeks.friendfromlowry;1850032 wrote:How far along is your wife? If she's still early on, you can probably get away with not many doctor visits or ultrasounds as long as everything has looked good so far.
It's funny. We were in this adoption process, and so we had a baby shower. Turns out, my wife was actually pregnant at her own baby shower, but the shower wasn't for THAT baby.
If it's in the card, I'd do that just out of frugality.Sonofanump;1850039 wrote:Congrats, do what my parents did, check into the hospital at 12:01am so you don't get charged for an extra day.
Thanks!vball10set;1850068 wrote:very cool--congrats to you and Mrs. O-Trap!
We have been, and they're working with us some. However, because my wife has a family history of diabetes AND she, herself, has a history of miscarriages, we'll just bite the bullet and pay for the visits out of pocket if we have to.jmog;1850079 wrote:Congrats!
Just don't go to the doctor for the next 3 months, take some over the counter prenatal vitamins and everything will be fine.
We had a similar situation with our second child actually, and we told her OBGYN that for the first couple months we would be paying out of pocket/cash and then would have insurance.
They REALLY backloaded the different tests/visits for us and only did the required visits/tests the first few months to make sure everything was 'ok' with mom and baby. I ended up having to pay less than $1000 total until we had insurance.
Just talk to the doctor up front and explain, they typically will work with you (mainly because they think most people paying up front end up not paying for like a decade).
Don't think that hasn't crossed my mind.QuakerOats;1850089 wrote:Congratulations!
Sounds like the baby might be born before year-end, so you will get another exemption/deduction that will help.
Thanks!mcburg93;1850093 wrote:Congrats!

Congrats!
I know I was annoyed at the fact that we had some troubles that caused it to take a couple of years and one early miscarriage, but 7 1/2 is definitely a long time, I'm glad it paid off!
She's 21 1/2 weeks along with our twins, so I'll beat you to Akron General by a couple months. If it makes you feel any better, the costs still suck insured (we have extra visits to the high risk because of twins).

I do, in fact. After careful consideration, we're not going to do that at all and think all you assholes would corrupt our child. LOLBelly35;1850861 wrote:Congrats .. Wow what a gift having a baby and becoming a dad...

Congrats O-Trap !!! Same thing happened to my sister and her husband. After 13 years of trying they decided to adopt only for her to finally become pregnant. My niece is now 14 years old.

I mean, I'm already going to be corrupting the child a little bit. Probably better that we keep it to just me.Heretic;1851009 wrote:Probably the best and most accurate answer!
