Cody Reed with new life as Reds #3 batter also hits a 3-run HR to RF. Cubs defense facilitated it rather than it all being on the pitcher.

Reed starts off the 2nd inning better off than he started the first, but ends the 2nd worse off than the bad situation he finished the first inning with!

A grand slam and two 3-run homeruns through an inning and a half.
Alrighty then.

I wonder if there ever was a time when each team had their left handed batting first baseman with over 750 MLB games played at 1B up till then hit a 3-run HR in their first AB in the 1st inning. I'm guessing never!

Thom says its only the 2nd time #3 hitters have done it, and the 1st time that #3 hitting first basemen have done it.mhs95_06;1849392 wrote:I wonder if there ever was a time when each team had their left handed batting first baseman with over 750 MLB games played at 1B up till then hit a 3-run HR in their first AB in the 1st inning. Reds get back over .500 and back within a half game of the division lead with the win over the Cubs. In the big scoring inning for the Reds, their 3-2 lead expanded by 4 runs as Kivlehan hits a bases clearing double following Gennet's bunt single that loaded the bases with none out. Of course the 2 errors by the Cubs facilitated the inning. Arroyo wins both games the Reds win this week, averaging 2.5 runs given up and 5.5 innings pitched. Disappointing the Reds wasted good starts this week by Feldman, Garret, and Adleman.
