Devin Hester (CHI) - $5.45 million
Andre Davis (HOU) - $4.3 million
Roscoe Parrish (BUF)- $3.2 million.

all 3 of those guys have been busts. browns should take the hard line on this similar to what the bengals did with chad. cribbs needs the money so he can't sit out, it's his fault he signed the long contract.

As I said on the offseason thread, we can at least give him something close to Roscoe Parrish money. He's definitely earned that,

I see both sides of this. I want him to stay and think they should pay him more then what they offered but I also see the business side of this too. In very few cases does the player exceed the expectations of the contract they sign, it is usually the other way around, they play well the year before they sign, get the big contract then they go bust and don't live up to the money. Do the players give the money back when they suck after they sign the big contract. Just saying they need to meet in the middle. Hopefully for us fans they will.

Devin Hester is way overpaid for what he does, but he is a lot better as a receiver. Cribbs should get around 3.5 or a little less.

If Cribbs wants more than Davis or Hester, he needs to contact their agents...lol. I like Cribbs and I think his contract needs redone, but his demands are crazy. And it doesn't help that the Browns gave him a halfass offer.

We all gotta figure this deal will get done. The season has only been over with for 3 days. Holmgren has 5 months to get a deal done with him before camp starts. It will happen. Not to mention we still havent figured out the GM or coach for that matter. Contract talks will come after this. (Cribbs,J. Harrison,Vickers, Roth, DJackson..hopefully) I agree with mantooth...the neighborhood of 3.5-4.0 sounds about right. Although for that money, he needs to find a more prominant role on the offensive side of the ball. He has not done much to impress out of the wildcat other than Pittsburgh.

Are we the only ones who see how good this guy is? I think next year, he should catch some kickoffs and punts and just have a seat on the field. No respectable pay = no services

Kribbs is worth every bit of 3 million a year. Had the Browns made an offer in that ballpark and he reacted the way he did, then I don't think fans would be overly sympathetic.

$1.4 million is absurd considering how important he is to this team, and does nothing but create a scene because they had to know the type of response that was going to illicit from him. I would have expected a back handed offer like that from Mangini, but not Holmgren.

I hope Josh gets every dollar he can. He played the good soldier last year when he could have been a distraction, and deserves to get paid. Doing what he does, he realistically has another 3-4 year window he could play at this level and then he will essentially be done. It's time to cash in.

I am ordinarily in the "honor the contract you signed camp", but not in the case of the NFL when you can have a "contract" that the team thinks nothing of ripping up and cutting you no matter how many years or dollars you have left on it the second you lose a step or it makes sense from a cap perspective.

Unlike the NBA or MLB the absence of guaranteed contracts necessitates this constant renegotiation on the players part if they are out performing their deals because they have zero job security in reality. You are always one play away from doing what Wes Welker did, and you never know how effective you will be when you return. Do whatever you have to do to get what you can while you have your health because the loyalty on the teams end is non-existent.
