Crock pots, panini grills, coffee pots, could go on and on. If I am part of a wedding and have to pay for a tux/dress etc, I would look for the cheapest gift that would become a lifetime memory for the B&G. If I am invited to a wedding as a guest I would probably spend a bit more. It is a difficult task to buy for someone that you are just acquainted with than someone you really know. A cheap meaningful gift from a true friend from my wedding party would hover over a gift of expense from some rich dude I barely know, my personal thoughts.

I stand corrected anyway. The wedding I was thinking of was at the Willard. They had a "welcome" cocktail event the night before at the Hay Adams. I don't disagree but it's not my money. I have been to cheap weddings that have been fun and cheap ones that have sucked. I also have been to expensive weddings that have sucked and expensive weddings that have been fun. I think the main factors are the people and music.

It's all about the people, music, and drinks. I'm in the same boat. I've been to weddings that you know they spent a fortune and they sucked. And I've been to backyard shindig weddings that have been awesome.
