Even if not fully self-driving, the safety features on newer vehicles will be vastly improved. Some vehicles are already part-way there, as far as auto-braking if a collision is imminent.

If I can get 10+ years out of it I'm not going to be too worried about resale in the end. If that's the case, you'd be better off buying used or even leasing. The breakeven on buying a new vehicle is like 6-8 years. Right. Like I said, the plan is to drive it for 10+ years and I don't see that changing. The good resale value is just an insurance policy in case the next Outback refresh blows me away. I'm not one to need to latest and greatest vehicle every few years.

We've looked at these because of the fuel efficiency....nice vehicles. I've also owned the previously mentioned Wrangler. Been riding out my Jeep Liberty until it finally croaks. At that point, we're likely getting a Jeep Renegade. I want the BMW but I think my girlfriend's going to win out and we'll get the Renegade.

Stopped by a Mazda dealership today and test drove a CX-9. It was a pretty nice ride. The CX-5 is a little smaller than I was hoping so I've taken it off my list.

Not a fan of the Renegade, but we did drive through a Jeep dealership and peeked in on a few Cherokee's and Grand Cherokee's. Nice looking vehicles, but damn, some of the price tags were ridiculous.

It looks like the 2018 Outback is updating a few things from 2017 that I disliked, namely the infotainment center. I'll likely grab one of these this summer.
