If also considering resale value as part of your decision, still think you should consider a 4Runner.

Not sure this is a huge consideration, I plan on driving this vehicle for a decade plus. Though resale is part of the reason I like Subaru.

I like the CX-5, but if getting 10+ years out of the vehicle is your main goal, I'll always recommend Toyota or Subaru.

And in that case, consider most new vehicles by then could be self-driving (is 10 years aggressive for that?)....meaning whatever you buy will probably have little resale value at that point.

Even if not fully self-driving, the safety features on newer vehicles will be vastly improved. Some vehicles are already part-way there, as far as auto-braking if a collision is imminent.

If I can get 10+ years out of it I'm not going to be too worried about resale in the end. But if the 2020 Outback comes out and I decide I really want one it will be nice having a car with good resale value.

If that's the case, you'd be better off buying used or even leasing. The breakeven on buying a new vehicle is like 6-8 years. But we work so we can spend money!

Right. Like I said, the plan is to drive it for 10+ years and I don't see that changing. The good resale value is just an insurance policy in case the next Outback refresh blows me away. I'm not one to need to latest and greatest vehicle every few years.

We've looked at these because of the fuel efficiency....nice vehicles. I've also owned the previously mentioned Wrangler. Loved that vehicle but Jesus, you could almost go out and get a BMW for what they want for those things.

Been riding out my Jeep Liberty until it finally croaks. At that point, we're likely getting a Jeep Renegade. I want the BMW but I think my girlfriend's going to win out and we'll get the Renegade.

Stopped by a Mazda dealership today and test drove a CX-9. It was a pretty nice ride. The CX-5 is a little smaller than I was hoping so I've taken it off my list.

Not a fan of the Renegade, but we did drive through a Jeep dealership and peeked in on a few Cherokee's and Grand Cherokee's. Nice looking vehicles, but damn, some of the price tags were ridiculous.

One of the smartest things Chrysler ever did was buy Jeep.

Not the new Fiat renegade. The old CJ Renegade.

Oh. Shit. Do want. You know what they are asking for it? Not that I could buy it, my wife would kill me and we don't have the parking.

I have no idea. It's sitting on main street in Newtown. This is not it. The one in Newtown is red.

It looks like the 2018 Outback is updating a few things from 2017 that I disliked, namely the infotainment center. I'll likely grab one of these this summer.

On my second Grand Cherokee limited; they have been good buggies.
