There was something in print not long ago about some huge play of acreage near Jackson being built by rich folks in Texas for their safety in desperate times...it was described as a paradise land with pretty much everything.

A big ol lol

I haven't seen any valid news sources that proclaim the existence of a "no-go" zone, such as in Dearborn. In fact, here is a clearly Christian conservative website who repudiates such claims:

https://fellowshipoftheminds.com/2013/10/30/news-of-city-of-dearborn-going-sharia-is-a-hoax/

Now, are there neighborhoods one probably should not venture it into, whether at certain times of the day, or at all, and depending on one's skin color, dress, or culture? Yeah, but that's not quite the same thing.

Reminds me of the time my wife's sister-in-law, who is black, thought it would be a good idea to drop me (white) off in Compton after midnight, so I could put some gas in my rental car (down to "E"), armed with only a fifty-dollar bill, at a dimly-lit gas station where the only people visible inside or out were four guys hanging out by the gas pump.

I said a prayer for me wife and two-year old in the car, got out of the car and put on my three-smile, asked which one was the proprietor, and said I needed to put ten bucks worth in the car and that I needed change. After some long hard stares, one of them took my money, went inside, brought me back the correct change, and then there were some more long hard stares as I very deliberately took my time opening the gas tank, humming every Godz tune I could think of. Nobody spoke a word, just the stares.

I guess I was taking too long pumping the gas, because the wife's SIL drove up, screamed at me to quit wasting time and get out of there before I got us all killed.

An interesting experience, but I wouldn't want to push my luck and try a second time. The SIL still cracks up whenever I see her.

Yeah it's called south side Chicago, Anacostia, Detroit, Camden, Baltimore, etc.

I get where Belly is trying to go with this thread, but if obviously was not well thought out.

I guess Vine St does go on for a long ways so there are probably parts I wouldn't want to walk down at night. The part of it that used to be the worst (one of the most dangerous streets in the country) is now one of the most thriving stretches in the entire city.

Camden, NJ comes to mind...had to work at a drywall plant there a couple times to help with their emissions...

I stayed over by Philadelphia, drove through Camden and never stopped until I got inside the plant's gates. Rolled through stop signs, etc.

Too many long stares and people walking up toward car window at every intersection.

I've been up and down Cinci's Vine St. a few times in the last year going between UC and downtown. Even though there is a lot of urban renewal going on, it's still pretty rough in a few spots.

You're definitely fine at least until you hit Liberty going North.

I'll look at a map and tell you exactly where I'm talking about.

edit: Yes, north of Liberty to McMicken, I would say.
