Not looking forward to the potential timetable in selling here. Neighbor's house was on the market for 7 months before they unloaded. Our house was on the market for 10 months before we bought it. Just not a high traffic area for buying/selling.

One step closer to selling. Hopefully within the end of the week to next week I'll find out if we'll be moving. This position came out of nowhere, but it's a great opportunity.

Would be relocating to the Cincinnati-area. Flexibility on where, but would be looking in Covington, Newport, Florence, etc. areas primarily.

I'm not sure I could be offended by an offer. Annoyed, yeah, but not offended. My guess is we would just counter any offer lower than $259k with the asking price as our lowest price.

Thanks. I hate the back and forth haggle process. Both houses we have bought were right at the listing price...because they were worth it. We out ours on the block 4 years ago and put it at a price that if someone wanted it....we'd move. The realtor agreed with our listing price. Months in the realtor wanted to keep lowering the listing price. We lowered $5000 but that was it and she was a pain. Several times calling at 5:00 pm wanting to show it at 6:30....tried it during our daughter's graduation party. Irritating.

At the same time from same selling agency we were interested in an old house in town. We knew what the large but rundown house was purchased for....we had a contractor go through it with us to give us an estimate of how much work the put into it. Their initial listing was looking at around an $80,000 profit. Within a month they lowered their price $26,000 without any offers. We low balled a number recommended by realtor and it offended her work mate realtor and she refused to take that number to the seller (which sounds illegal)....we went up $10,000 more which left them with around a $30,000 profit, realtor convinced seller not to settle with our offer.

We said fuck it and stayed where we still are....4 years later that house JUST sold to my buddy and he bought it for the same price that we came back with. Greedy realtor.

I gave an offer that I said was final and their realtor didn't want to take it to the seller. Finally she did and they rejected it based on her recommendation. We moved on and they called us several times with counters. A friend/co-worker ended up buying the house for the same price we offered.

A little, well, a lot out of our range. We'll be selling a house somewhere between $85-120,000. Our jobs will be a pay raise, but not nearly that much.

I did take the job, it's based in Covington/Florence. Moving back closer to family, closest I've been in nearly 10 years.

I see that first-hand! Two days of the commute there sucks. Hopefully out looking tomorrow (Wednesday) for a place.

We are finding this process very humbling. We like our house a lot. Everyone that visits our house compliments it. Our realtor, and folks from the area that know how hot the market is right now all agreed that our house would go quickly. We are getting almost zero interest now that our house is on the market. We lowered the price by $10k last weekend and have received exactly zero showing requests since. We held an open house on Sunday and only one person showed up. The only negative feedback we've received is that our kitchen is a little small, which is true, but we've since seen houses in our neighborhood with smaller kitchens, fewer bedrooms, and fewer bathrooms but listed at the same price go pending almost immediately.

It's really frustrating because the house is very well maintained. New windows, new roof, recently painted, refinished hardwood floors, spray-foam insulation, 2 renovated bathrooms, granite counters. Yet...nothing.

It is frustrating. Buying a home is a big venture for nearly everyone. Many times people are in search of the "perfect"...but every house has sizable flaws if you weren't part of the having it built process. When we looked we wanted a big living room, 3+ bedrooms, nice back yard and big kitchen and at least a big basement room that was finished or could be......we viewed several very nice houses with wonderful "extras"....we never found the house that was "perfect" for us, so coupled with the irritating realtor showing our house....we decided to just stay put.

But also after folks see perfect for them isn't available....they often come back to those they liked best and decide.

We're apparently getting an offer on the house this afternoon. Hopefully it's an offer we can work with.
