After reading the back and forth (which I actually appreciated, since everyone stayed relatively even-keeled), I think his point was that while the overall bias of national media might be a matter of fact, it's probably not knowable unless we assume the metrics used to be objectively based and quantifiable, which may not be the case.

For the record, the national media definitely leans left overall, and I disagree with the right on probably 50% of its platform.

I was making a theoretical point as to the fact that proving something media bias is impossible. I was never arguing that there isn't bias. From my personal standpoint, I believe there is a great deal of bias, mostly toward the left. My point however was that the answer to the question of "Is there bias in the media?" can never be proven - that's all.

It's that some people could disagree with what the study considers positive or negative stories.

The color of the sky can be exactly measured with a scientific device by measuring solar radiation regardless of what anyone claims to see when the look up there. Media bias does not have a similar exactitude.
