Thank God the russian investigation and the trump campain is over

I don't think this session proved anything. I think made a stupid statement to Comey about letting the investigation go, but that's a far cry from ordering him to drop it. Comey doesn't come out of this very favorably either. He seems like he was more concerned with political positioning than his job at FBI. His intentional leaking of a conversation, while not illegal considering the topics, shows his character all the way.

i have posted that numerous times on here that Comey is a political hack that used his position to misinterpret the law based on what his subjective view was on the politics of the day.

He is going down the creek in the same boat as DC insiders like Holder and Lynch.

I think Comey views himself as an honest man with integrity, that ran the FBI with integrity. He probably feels that he just wanted to do his job as FBI director, but unfortunately the political machine chewed him up, spit him out, and damaged his character (i think the final trigger were the lies Trump's team were spreading about him). This imo is why he testified and threw grenades at both sides.

Part of me feels bad for him, because I think he deep down just wanted to be the FBI director and not get involved with all the political bullshit. Part of me says fuck him, because he handled the Clinton investigation with incompetence, and it led to all of this. He is going to go down in history books, and typically if a FBI director goes down in the history books it is not for any positive reason.

All the leaks, all the inaccuracies....and he never saw fit to correct the record when it was desperately needed in some cases. And the thing that got him fired probably more than any other, was his decision not to make clear Trump himself was not under investigation. All those leaks - and we now know he himself is a leaker - but you can't do that?

Understandable the FBI doesn't comment on investigations or confirm or deny anything, as a rule. But when the legitimacy of a POTUS and his ability to govern are being damaged by this, you have to figure it out and not hide behind decorum (which he demonstrated, repeatedly, he was willing to go beyond with the Clinton emails).

I think his testimony actually makes clear he was not up to the task as FBI head - sometimes you have to deal with this political BS, and he wasn't capable of managing it. The integrity of the investigation, itself, was being damaged by the misinformation out there he refused to address.

His leak, obviously politically motivated, is a disgrace. It is totally unethical, and most likely illegal.

Also again, Comey can "leak" unclassified information that he owns any time he wants to, especially as a private citizen.

But, I guess it is somewhat understandable given the fact that many of those liberals in media, academia and law are products of the participation trophy generation, and dealing with defeat at the polls is something they can't handle.

I'm in the camp of there's probably nothing there when it comes to Russian collusion. I wish that never would have been a path the left went down because it undermines the real conversation that needs to be happening about Russian attempts to influence and/or "hack" our election process independent of any collusion with a candidate. This happened it's not 'fake news' but the left took that and in an attempt to mitigate their disaster at the polls ran with "collusion".

As a result anytime Trump hears Russia it becomes personal. As POTUS he should 100% care about a foreign power seeking to influence our election but he can't seperate that investigation from the personal "collusion" claims and that's 50% his fault for all the curious connections between his associates and Russia but also the left and the media conflating the two. Russia working to influence our election and team Trump working with them to do it are two different things.

So impeachment for collusion is a giant nothingburger but because Trump is an ego maniac and doesn't understand social/political norms he can't help but put his foot in his mouth. I don't think he was trying to commit obstruction. I think he thought "I'm Donald F'ing Trump and people do what I say and now I'm POTUS on top of it. I want this FBI thing to go away" And between his actions, interviews, tweets, may have actually obstructed justice. I think that's still a valid conversation and hope the special investigator is looking into it.

Not one shred of public information just a lot of smoke. If there was nothing, why is Mueller there and why isn't he saying "There is no evidence?"

All of the evidence is still classified, which is why there is a lot of smoke and anonymous sources.
The head of the spy agencies have repeatedly testified that the Russians did something during election cycle to try and disrupt the election. It seems the FBI and DOJ is still investigating whether or not that had anything to do with the Trump campaign, that includes Flynn, Maniford, Corey, Sessions, and Jared. Trump himself is not under investigation, but people around him are. That's the thing that is not going away.

Is Trump safe, most likely, but the investigation into whether people on his campaign had interactions with Russians and if those interactions were related in any way to the Russian hacking the DNC is ongoing and not going away.

Didn't Comey pretty much shred that? Said there was no evidence of collusion, which could only mean Trump's campaign if Trump is not part of the investigation. And, also, it's a counter intelligence investigation. That infamous NY Times article: "in the main, it was not true"....["the original sources could not be reached for comment"]

Even Chris Matthews, OF ALL PEOPLE, said the collusion story is dead. There is no related criminal investigation - it would appear nobody is currently in jeopardy.

Comey also took on giant dump on the veracity of all these leaks and reporting. Pointing to "smoke" based on these leaks is a shaky proposition. The investigation is ongoing, but the liberal media has stepped all over its deck at every turn of this story.

One thing interesting that seems to have flown under the radar: Comey said "at the time, Flynn was in legal jeopardy".

Any emails sent on a company account are generally company property. But that's apples to oranges - emails or memos directly related to your job are unmistakably work product, even if you do it at home on your computer.

They're now hoping [see what I did there] that Trump has obstructed an investigation [Flynn] not targeting Trump, which apparently completed with no criminal charges. How can you be accused of obstructing a witch hunt that was allowed to run its course?
