LolCaps. The entire time Ovechkin has been there, they still haven't made it past the second round.

Really is hilarious how the Caps can't get past the second round. Even with Ovechkin all these years, second round exit. Yikes.

Not to mention how many times have they had the best record in the NHL during the Ovi era?

I don't want to talk about it lol. They play so damn timid any time they feel pressure. Just terribleSportsAndLady;1852440 wrote:Really is hilarious how the Caps can't get past the second round. Even with Ovechkin all these years, second round exit. Yikes.

That was last night for them in a nutshell. Outplayed the Pens all season, but were tied 3-3 simply because of a lot of good blocking and Fleury being a lot better than Holtby for the first five games. They'd won two in a row and seemed to have all the momentum. And they lose a 2-0 game where they seemed to emotionally crumble because they weren't getting shots through early on. Arena got real quiet after the first Pens goal and was a mausoleum for a lot of the third. Definition of a self-fulfilling prophecy as it looked like, after they didn't jump out to a lead, that they knew defeat was in the cards.Crimson streak;1852455 wrote:I don't want to talk about it lol. But that's what happens when you never make it out of the second round despite having one of the league's top guys to build around AND you've made a habit of getting owned by the Pens in the postseason (Washington club history: 1-9 vs. Pittsburgh in postseason series). Still, I have to admit that the outcome surprised me. Wasn't expecting them to go out that meekly and was fully expecting Pittsburgh's season to end so that I'd have to focus on the Pirates and how they've devolved into only having about 4 actual MLB players on their roster!

I've been so tired today. I wanted to go to bed midway through the 3rd but forced myself to stay up. Did not want to quit watching. Hockey game 7's are the best in sports.Heretic;1855257 wrote:Have a bit of a hangover today, but damn, last night was a thrill-ride.

Get outplayed for virtually the entire game, but score 5 goals in the 7 or so minutes you play well and wind up winning. I'll take it, but I don't see that model working for four games.

The pens really had no business winning that game last night. Crazy how they have been doing it all playoffsHeretic;1855520 wrote:Get outplayed for virtually the entire game, but score 5 goals in the 7 or so minutes you play well and wind up winning. Two down, two to go.
Which would sound a lot more reassuring if it didn't really look like they were getting outplayed for most of those two wins, but just happened to have a few-minute period where they shell a goalie who seems to be falling apart at the worst possible time. Good goaltending by Rinne and this could easily be a 1-1 or 0-2 series instead of 2-0.

Now they just gotta show the same spark in Nashville. That was the first game of the five where they legit outplayed Nashville, instead of just getting great goaltending and a 5-minute spurt where they looked like world-beaters, so hopefully they're fully awake now.

Of course I turn over to the game and immediately see where the Pens benefitted from a blown call. Smashville scores a goal but the ref had called the play dead, even though he couldn't even see Murray (and how he didn't have the puck).
Why does shittsburgh always get these types of calls in championship games?
