The Ravens are 8-6, lost to the Jets but have Justin Tucker who you can argue is worth 4 wins this year.
Week 3 @Jacksonville....Ravens down 2 1:10 left.....Tucker makes a 53 yard FG on their terrible grass field
Week 15 they survive against the Eagles and of course Tucker drilled a 53 yard FG right before half....Ravens win by 1
Week 12 vs Bengals they win by 5 (but up 7 and purposefully take a safety)....Tucker kicked a 57, 54 and 52 yard FG
Early season vs Browns they win by 5 and Tucker nailed a 52 yard and a 49 yard FG
I say he's at least worth 2 wins over the AVERAGE NFL kicker and at least 3 games over a replacement.
10/10 on FG over 50 yards
They said last night after Bailey missed his 2nd FG of the game that Tucker had taken over the career lead in FG%. I was worried about Tucker last week after being tagged with a miss when the guy jumped over the center and his attempt had no chance. Kicking is so much mental that that I was worried that the trauma of that timed jump would really mess him up, but he did very well after that last week and yesterday also. The most impressive thing to me is how high he kicks the ball and how consistently solid he hits it. Many kickers have a slight hook on the ball, but he kicks most of them with a slight fade. Many times I've thought on impact he missed it as it headed near the left upright, maybe even out side of it, but they nearly always fade back through.
Just to illustrate how fast it can go sour for an NFL place kicker, I really feel for last year's Minnesota kicker. He had the play-off game won in the terrible cold and wind with about 3 great kicks, then someone made a bonehead play and put them in jeopardy of losing and it came down to a chip shot FG for him to win the game again, and he shanked it badly and they lost, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and ruining him mentally. This year he struggled and was finally cut.
