My friend (Big 12 supporter) is irate again. He was mad when TCU got left out now he's mad PSU isn't in because "conference champions matter."
I think they come into play, but it just shows the selection criteria will alter based on who they think is the best 4. I'm sure they makes me sound like a biased OSU fan, but it is what it is. There will always be some controversy, this was known as soon as they announced the new format.

PSU had an easier path to championship game because their crossover games were easier. It's misleading to look at conference records when the strength of opponents played is very different.wildcats20;1827738 wrote:Thy still would have been in a championship game if they do top 2 teams. If not, it's a Baylor/TCU scenario.

People took the wrong message from TCU/Baylor vs. OSU.
It wasn't about conference championships, it was about strength of schedule/resume. What that conference championship does is give teams another strong win potentially since you know the opponent should be good at worst.
However, because OSU had Oklahoma (who won the Big 12) as an away game earlier, plus Wisconsin on the road and a win against Michigan among other good wins (demolishing Nebraska) they had enough good data points already.
They look at each teams entire body of work.
PSU fans/OSU haters want to focus in on one issue as opposed to looking at the season in its entirety.
OSU great schedule, great wins and 1 loss. PSU did have a conference championship, and with that is slightly similar wins, however, they have 2 losses.
PSU's only hope to get in was Washington looking bad in a win or either Washington or Clemson losing.

That's fine, but if you take the top 2 teams of the entire conference (the way it was played this year, obviously you can't do a round robin with 14 teams), OSU and PSU would have had a rematch in a title game. So PSU still would have a chance to be B1G Champs.Al Bundy;1827751 wrote:PSU had an easier path to championship game because their crossover games were easier. It's what the Big 12 is doing starting next year. The top 2 teams will play again for the title.

Army apparently is wearing some WWII uniforms honoring the paratroopers of the 82nd airborne. AATW!

They're just O.K. as far as football unis go. The resemblance of the 82nd Airborne is pretty good...as about as good as you can do it. The numbers on the unis are terrible.

When these were revealed to the team, on hand was Lt. Col. James Megellas who is the most decorated decorated officer in the history of the 82nd Airborne Division. That's pretty cool.Con_Alma;1827786 wrote:

The "conference champions should be in" argument is ridiculous. There are FOUR playoff spots and FIVE power conferences. Does it make any sense that conference champions "should" be in? lol

Heisman finalists are Lamar Jackson, DeShaun Watson, Baker Mayfield, Dede Westbrook, and Jabrill Peppers.
I don't even know what to say. Where is Dalvin Cook? Jake Browning maybe? Peppers being on there is absurd.

Pretty weak heisman class. Peppers is a joke. Lamar Jackson has to win.

Shouldn't Donnel Pumphrey, CFB's second all-time leading rusher deserve at list a trip to New york for his accomplishments??

Pat Mahomes is another guy that probably should have gotten a deeper consideration.

In their bowl game he may very well pass Ron Dayne.SportsAndLady;1827796 wrote:No!
He will be facing Houston, however, and their run defense is pretty stout. I think they are currently ranked the number 2 run defense in the country.
[h=3]NCAA career rushing leaders[/h]
- Ron Dayne, Wisconsin: 6,397 yards
- Donnel Pumphrey, San Diego State: 6,290 yards
- Ricky Williams, Texas: 6,279 yards
- Tony Dorsett, Pittsburgh: 6,082 yards
- DeAngelo Williams, Memphis: 6,026
