Lol.

Yeah, I agree. I think Washington has a decent chance of losing to Washington State or in the PAC12 Championship against Colorado/USC/Utah.

Clemson probably isn't losing again. Sparty could play spoiler for Penn State, but since that game is in Happy Valley, I doubt it.

Even though OSU beat Wisconsin on their home field, a 2 loss B1G Champ is ahead of Ohio State since the committee values conference championships so much. In the end, if OSU wins out, it's gonna come down to if the committee is willing to look at what might be the best resume overall and put Ohio State in the playoff over a conference champ (and probably WITH another team from the same conference, which might also be unlikely).

Lol there is no way Wisconsin is getting in over Ohio st. Or penn st either. They both have 2 losses and Ohio st has by far way better wins than anyone in the country. You guys are out of your minds if you think a 2 loss team will jump Ohio st, just bc they won a conference championship and this is coming from a person who hates Ohio st. They control their own destiny.

What if Washington State wins out giving them 3 top 25 wins and a PAC 12 champs?

What if Utah wins out??

Although the PAC 12 is down having 3 wins against top 25 opponent and a power conference championship might garner a committee discussion.

Ok even if they decide to give a PAC 12 team a bid, who gets in over Ohio st? There is no 1 loss team that has a better resume than ohio state

Disagree with this.

Ohio State went on the road in the OOC against a top 15 team (and a preseason playoff favorite). They played on the road in conference against two top 10 teams. Hosted a top 5 team and a top 25 team.

That is a brutal schedule and STILL they finished with just 1 loss. How many playoff teams in the past have had one loss? Almost all of them.

They should not be penalized because 3 of the best 10 teams in the country are in their same conference division, IMO.

You think a B1G Ten Champ Penn State isn't gonna be ahead of OSU? They beat them head-to-head and would be a conference champ. No way in hell the committee picks Ohio State over Penn State. They might BOTH get in depending on what else has happened, but there's no way they would choose OSU over PSU in that scenario.

Ohio State might have an argument over Wisconsin since they beat them, but I think the fact that Wisconsin would be a conference champ would outweigh that, unfortunately.

Still a lot of football left to play, though, so we'll see what happens.

What if Nebraska beats Maryland and Iowa, and Wisconsin wins out and beats Penn State in B1G Championship, and Oklahoma wins at WVU and Ok State and Ohio State beats Michigan.

That would leave OSU at 11-1 with wins over (projected rankings after conference championships):

@Wisconsin #4
@ Oklahoma #6
vs Michigan #10
vs Nebraska #15 ----by 50+

No one could touch that.

By the way, I'm just trying to think like the committee. Obviously, I want Ohio State in the playoffs. I think they're one of the four best teams in the country, but in the end, I don't feel confident that the committee will put them in. Hopefully they win out and then we'll see.

I honestly don't know. No one does right now...not even the committee. That's the point. The discussion would be interesting to hear but no matter what they publicly say I wouldn't discount the concern they might have for not considering a power 5 conference champ with top 25 wins.

Agreed. That seems like it would be the best body of work.

OSU needs Oklahoma to beat WVU

OSU also needs to hope/pray that politic, biased support for the power 5 stays out of the discussions. We've even read on here that you shouldn't be in if you don't win your conference.

Being concerned that those discussions will be had should be real.

Yes they would choose Ohio st over Penn st considering Penn st has 2 losses.

If OSU beats Michigan and remains #2 over Clemson.....0 chance of them not making it....if Clemson passes them this week or next week then the committee is setting up.

But in now what do I see any of it.

Like someone said earlier, I think the way the playoff rankings come out on the 29th, after UM game...that'll be your sign on what they plan on doing with OSU. If everything holds to form and none of the conference leaders take any more L's heading into conference championship games....and they still rank OSU #2, they'll get in regardless of how championship weekend plays out. But, if they slide them anywhere but #1 or 2, they're setting them up to get jumped after championship games.

IMO, the ONLY scenario that Ohio State is left out with 1-loss is the Alabama/Clemson/Washington/Penn State win out and win their leagues. They would reward the three 1-loss conference champs over OSU and it would be impossible to ignore the 2-loss Penn State with the conference title AND head to head win over OSU.

If anything from this exact scenario happens, OSU is in.

Yeah I ignored the post. Has ND ever scored on OSU? Not in the 1920's or w/e, but in a year that actually matters.
