Wet track didn't help. De Grasse .4 slower as were most others.

I know it's not how you do it and a lack of focus....but I hate seeing the athletes false start on this stage.

to your point...ironman02;1807950 wrote:Lochte is a damn moron.
But let me get this straight. I haven't seen video of them actually breaking in the door of this restroom and then vandalizing it. I do see them try to leave in the taxi, the security guard shows his badge and makes them leave the vehicle. He then questions them, and according to the latest report I saw, did actually pull out his gun to make sure that they stayed put. Then somehow the security guard and store manager take cash from the swimmers and agree to let them leave before police arrive, correct? Sounds like Lochte definitely fudged the details of this story, but it also seems like his story is partially true.
He should have kept his damn mouth shut and it sounds like he and his buddies would have gotten away with the whole thing for about $50, but instead, he's probably gonna be indicted for falsely reporting a crime. Oh, and he has completely embarrassed his country at the Olympic games.

Are there any other events out there where the goal is to see who can go medium the fastest?

I've always said race walking and synchronized diving are events for people not good enough to compete in their real event.ernest_t_bass;1808042 wrote:Are there any other events out there where the goal is to see who can go medium the fastest?

I wonder how many former competitive marathon race walkers end up needing hip replacement.Spock;1808041 wrote:THat stride cant be good on teh body
*Winning race walker was like 3:40. So that's like what, one hour slower than you can run a marathon?

I always said the same thing about the steeple chase. It's the event for distance runners not good enough for the 10000m, 5000m or 1500m.gut;1808047 wrote:I've always said race walking and synchronized diving are events for people not good enough to compete in their real event.

There's something creepy about watching the synchronized swim teams enter the pool area. Between that and their make-up, it looks like something straight out of a horror film.

All "sports" where the winner is decided by a judge should have their own Olympics. Hopefully it would eliminate so many controversial decisions.gut;1808057 wrote:There's something creepy about watching the synchronized swim teams enter the pool area. Obviously Russia is still up to their own tricks. Vlad Nikitin of Russia did not beat Conlan of Ireland, in boxing.

Just based on my experiences with teammates I haven't found this to be very true... Race walking can go fuck itself though. Worst thing ever. It's also definitely an event for people who weren't good enough to do actual running. Both steeple chase and race walking are the only 2 distance events I never did in college.salto;1808055 wrote:I always said the same thing about the steeple chase. Sure....Because many athletes grow up thinking "I'm going to be an Olympic race walker....or synchronized diver". When you can't make the cut as an individual, you go try synchronized. Rhythmic gymnastics is another.vball10set;1808063 wrote:lol, right...between you and Said this thread is downright comical...birds of a feather...
It would be like making putt-putt an Olympic event.
Somewhere is a race walker who isn't good enough to make the team or medal, hoping for a "medley" of jogging, race walking and backwards running.
