Anyone see Lawson the long jumper choke on the last jump? Looked like he landed in gold medal position but his left hand hit back in the 25ft range.

I didn't consider it a choke. He needed to sell out and go for it and he did, then his fingers scraped the sand.friendfromlowry;1807224 wrote:Anyone see Lawson the long jumper choke on the last jump? Looked like he landed in gold medal position but his left hand hit back in the 25ft range.
It's been incredible how many times something so small separates gold from everything else.

^^^yeah, I can't see how you'd call it a choke either--it's the Olympics, where everyone is their country's best of the best, so you go big or go home

its basic form to not have your hands touch or you're going to give up damn near two feet. Just because he needed to go all out doesn't change a simple technique error caused him to go first to fourth.vball10set;1807245 wrote:^^^yeah, I can't see how you'd call it a choke either--it's the Olympics, where everyone is their country's best of the best, so you go big or go home

You still would've been runner uplike_that;1806819 wrote:I don't really follow Judo, but I remember Kayla Harrison becoming the first US Judoka to win a gold medal last olympics. She just repeated. I wish my father got me into Judo when I was younger. I would have helped immensely in wrestling (insert "you still would have been a runner-up jokes).

USA Women's basketball continued their dominance with a 105-62 win over China. Glad that there's still one basketball squad playing well.

Rose with a clutch chip. This has been a huge success for Golf. I think we see all the top guys try to make it to Tokyo in 2020.

You can tell that those golfers really felt pressure for those medals. Cool to see them play for more than a paycheck. Kuch is great at getting played. Never knew he was clutch,
