Of the top 60 posters ranked by reputation, looks like 45ish still post here. About 60 still here if you extend it out to the top 90.

...I may only have 19 rep points, but at least I have that $224,000 in vcash stashed away!

Vbookie was my favorite way to reverse jinx. I'd bet it all on the Bengals to beat the Steelers or something and if they happened to I'd have more imaginary funds [emoji3][emoji106].
I don't ever rep because I have to go to web view, sign in and stuff. I liked it the short while they had the "like" button....but not sure anyone else ever used it.

I went over and signed in yesterday....pretty much crickets.
It was a blast back in the day...but the $12 charge pretty much killed it.
Not to mention JJ being an a-hole. One of his 'moderators' went after me about something and I got suspended.

It's a pretty good case study of what happens to companies that:wkfan;1805348 wrote:I went over and signed in yesterday....pretty much crickets.

A) Don't understand the industry/market they are in; charging people a fee for something you can get for free elsewhere
B) Don't listen to customer feedback; if customers say they will leave and you are not a monopoly, they will leave
Their biggest mistake was not grandfathering in paid lifetime users because at least that would have kept a good chunk of the active posters churning out content which would allow the forum to generate decent traffic.

Moreover, it showed a lack of understanding of how marketing is done. There are companies out there who would just KILL for thousands of non-paying visitors every day. If they weren't making enough money from it, the problem was their "funnel," and not the fact that the traffic wasn't all paying traffic.

It completely amazes me that Sirius XM radio is in business. How (and why) do people pay for their services?sleeper;1805356 wrote:It's a pretty good case study of what happens to companies that:

The content is created for the end user. It's a different model. The user doesn't pay in order for permission to provide content to Sirius XM.ernest_t_bass;1805373 wrote:It completely amazes me that Sirius XM radio is in business. How (and why) do people pay for their services?

Why? There's no comparison between satellite radio and FM radio.ernest_t_bass;1805373 wrote:It completely amazes me that Sirius XM radio is in business. How (and why) do people pay for their services?

Your comparison is off.ernest_t_bass;1805373 wrote:It completely amazes me that Sirius XM radio is in business. How (and why) do people pay for their services?
If you're using radio, it would be like 92.6 charging users $12 a year to listen to their rock and roll station while 101.2 allows you to listen for free.

Which also explains their arrogance/lack of business experience.O-Trap;1805372 wrote:This is remarkably true.

Additionally, they severely underestimated the difficulty of getting people to pay anything for a service. Even getting users at $1 per month is infinitely more difficult than giving it away for free.

When I was getting it for free I enjoyed satellite radio or traditional.
Just is too expensive though to house all the DJ's and such in outer space. Until it is more affordable to live out there this just isn't going to work.

One of the best buys I have ever made was a lifetime subscription to Sirius Radio when they first started out for $500. I do not think they offer these anymore. I have been enjoying it now for over 13 years now with not having to pay anything more!

Well, I'll have to give you credit, predictable vball made a post towards me without using the words redneck or mater. Congrats fella! Nice to see you've finally expanded your vocabulary.vball10set;1805404 wrote:I guess Dean Wormer was wrong--you can go through life fat, drunk and stupid...and no.
Another worthy note, you made a post with an actual sentence as well, instead of your typical "bingo!", "right", and "I agree's!".
Keep it up buddy. You're making big strides!

You haven't lived until you sat through a nascar race on the radio. Rivoting shit right there.vball10set;1805404 wrote:I guess Dean Wormer was wrong--you can go through life fat, drunk and stupid...and no.

Yeah, my 2005 Accord we bought new had it for 3 months and then paid the lifetime rate (thinking it was $450). I still drive this Honda to work and love the XM radio.arnie palmer;1805389 wrote:One of the best buys I have ever made was a lifetime subscription to Sirius Radio when they first started out for $500.
