Police in Central California say two family dogs killed a 3-day-old baby after her mother left her on the couch and walked away for a few seconds.Fresno Police Sgt. Dan Macias tells the Fresno Bee (http://bit.ly/28ZVnQU) the girl's mother had left the door open because it was hot and she thought the dogs were tied up in the back yard.
The baby died at a hospital shortly after the attack Monday.
Macias says the two male dogs, which are believed to be a mix of shar-pei and pit bull are owned by the 33-year-old woman's brother. He surrendered the dogs to the Central California Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. SPCA spokesman Walter Salvari says the dogs will be euthanized.
Macias says police are continuing to investigate and charges have not been ruled out.

I'm fine with these dogs. What I'm not fine with is irresponsible owners. Our next door neighbors own two pits and just let them run free. "They're good dogs." Perhaps they are for you, but I don't want those fuckers anywhere around my kids or animals.

Time to limit the sale of some dog food, increase the price of some type of dogs and back ground check of buyers.

gosh a ruddies what excellent ideas. A $50,000 price tag on the purchase of all dogs of pitbull ancestry, the bulk of the cost from a tax. The revenue from the tax would be put into a fund for the dogs' victims, and a background check on all potential owners for criminal or mental health history.

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct 15 (Reuters) - A California man has died and his mother is in critical condition after they were mauled by pit bulls, authorities said on Wednesday.
Juan Fernandez, 59, of Modesto died after he was attacked by pitbulls in the back yard of a house in Modesto on Tuesday, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department said. His mother, Maria Fernandez, 77, was also attacked by the dogs and was in critical condition in a local hospital, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

When deputies arrived, they saw three pit bulls mauling Juan Fernandez, and a fourth circling him, the department said.

get outta here with that crap. Bad owners of a basset hound isnt going to kill people.

Pit bulls are useless. I am glad I live in a neighborhood that has a clause in the HOA that pitbulls are not allowed.

So, today the neighbor's pit bull ran over and attacked both of our horses pinned up in their corral. Went up and bit both horses on their hind quarters/groin area. Blood everywhere, and one of the horses was my daughter's 4H horse, who is now unable to go to the fair. My <5% respect for the pit bull breed (and their owners) has dropped to <.000000005%. All my neighbor keeps doing is talking about how stupid her dog is for doing that. Gee-thanks-bye.

That sucks man. Bad pet owners are some of the worst. Is there a neighboring county fair later on she could show in?

Something crazy going on with this board.

ETB....that sucks and feel bad for your daughter. Irresponsible pet owners suck. Is there a neighboring county fair later on she could show?

On a serious note (since I wasn't very serious earlier in this thread), I'm now wondering how long it will be before your neighbors dogs run over and attack a person/persons on your property? The owners apparently do not like to contain their dogs on their ow property and the dogs apparently have no scruples on attacking large animals. It will be much easier for them to attack a person.
My other question is: What are you going to do about this incident?

No, I'm not suing. We had a vet come out for an emergency visit, and that same vet put the dog down. I told the owners that we were going to have to file a police report, unless the dog got put down. I like our neighbors, so I didn't really want to file the report, as long as the dog was taken care of immediately.

Fine. They knew what needed to be done. They felt absolutely awful. It was tough for them, but they had no qualms in doing it. They are footing the vet bill as well.
