Strange morning. Cavs win and what a night it was for Cleveland and all the fans who have waited for a celebration like that for decades. For some reason, I wasn't into it. I haven't been able to get back into the Cavs since Lebron left. I mean, I root for them but I rarely watch a regular season game. When I say I wasn't into it...I mean that I don't feel any different today but I was on the edge of my seat last night...pacing...I wanted that win. But I had only 1 urge to go to Cleveland yesterday...we were all over at my dad's yesterday for Father's Day and at about 4:30 it hit me...what am I doing here? I need to be in Cleveland for this. I told my brother in law...get out of the pool and let's hit the road. Our wives quickly squashed that with the, "You've been drinking since noon and we aren't going to drive you...etc" argument and it was settled. Not going to Cleveland. And I was fine with it 5 minutes later and by tip off I was content to be watching from the comfort of home. That would never happen with the Indians. The Indians have a clinching game...home or away in the World Series and I'll be in Cleveland...somewhere. In the stadium...in a bar...somewhere. So I'm struggling with it. I've always been a Cavs fan and I love basketball. My parents had season tickets at the Coliseum, I grew up wearing Mark Price and Tyrone Hill jerseys. I thought Bobby Sura was going to be an all star for years. But after LeBron left...I didn't watch an NBA game (other than Heat/Cavs and a few playoff games) for the next few years. It just wasn't the same and then he came back but I haven't been into it the same. But what a night and definitely a night we all deserved.
I just hope the Indians can give us something like that soon (because the Browns aren't).
The Tribe are in 1st place, up a slim half game over the Royals as both teams completed sweeps over division rivals over the weekend. Interesting stat to note: The Indians have a +53 run differential. The Royals are -1. The Red Sox are +83 and the Mariners are +54...putting the Tribe 3rd in the AL.
The Rays are in last place in the East but just 5 games under .500 and losers of 4 straight. The AL East is a very competitive division but these are games we need to win at home vs sub .500 teams.
Monday-
Smyly vs Tomlin
Tuesday
Snell vs Kluber
Wednesday
Archer vs Bauer
Go Tribe.
